The more i've learned about history and politics, the more i distrust everyone around me. Im always checking to see if anyone's following me. I have covered/disconnected all cameras in my house that are connected to internet or phones, My location is always off, i try to hide or avoid getting photos taken or getting recognized, and avoid signing stuff. Also, i deleted all of my social media and all posts i have made except for whatsapp and gmail since i cannot work without them. I feel that there is always someone watching, and that they're trying to catch me. I have no concrete proof or evidence for any of this, i dont really know why im getting like this. Am i being paranoid?

Yes youre being paranoid. If youre from the west it doesnt really matter if you cover your cameras or do anything that you have done, they can find you without a problem even after what you have done. Also youre just making life harder by cutting out convinient things like youre location, well in some cases it is very useful like if you need directions for a map but other than that yeah turn it off if you want. But yeah nobodys coming for you for just posting on lemmygrad and being a leftist. I mean they have cameras everywhere so it doesnt really matter if you turn your cameras off or something like that. The only true way to get around that is to be offgrid and use tor as little as possible. If youre not genuinely planning to throw over the government or kill some capitalist circles they wont do shit, yeah theyre watching but theyre watching everyone. Idk to me you seem paranoid and the things you did seem to me like its useless. But deleting soc media is good, cut out the brainrot asap. I wish i could do that but i have contact to my friends and some work stuff on soc media

Yes. Talk to a friend. Join a club. You're not alone.

This is good opsec.

but the rest is not right. Is your reading time cutting into your sleeping time? Sleep deprivation will fuck you up. Social contact is also kinda important and your brain can get a bit funny if you deprive it of interaction with people. maybe do a bit less reading and spend more time with people.

It depends on how important of an individual you are or what groups you belong to. It does sound to me like you're panicking, it's important to keep a calm head and focus on reality.

There is nothing more suspicious than a zebra with no stripes. Anyone who wants to track you, personally, already knows you'll be using a VPN, won't use your real name, your cameras will be duck taped over, you won't be on social media. etc. It also takes a lot of labor to track an individual. And it's good to avoid getting "screened" but at the end of the day, if someone is personally watching you, they already know all the nuanced details of good opsec, they know your vulnerabilities, to live is to take risks.

Someone here once posted about being on a flight and I hope for their sake it wasn't actually posted from their phone, in semi real-time, because I could easily track down who they were by following their paper trail they left behind. I'd also hope they swap out the location names to and from.

People who think they're godly anonymous can develop a tendency to speak too freely online. That ends up biting them in the ass. If it's something important then don't type it at all. Don't talk about it, no exceptions. Get this down and then think of additional defense layers and who you're trying to defend yourself from. A VPN won't save you from government level interference.

thank you for all your advice, i'll keep it all in mind. Also yes, i probably am not that important as to be a target lol, plus, if someone really wanted to find me, they'd have already done it. Thanks again for the help, your advice is very good! ^^

some of those things, disconnecting cameras and turning off location are generally okay things that reduce digital footprint and make it so data collection is harder on you. keep in mind, using gmail, google scans all your emails so you will be included in their data. however, it is unlikely that you in particular are being singled out among the millions of people various governments may classify as dissidents. it can be normal to have those kinds of thoughts sometimes, but people you personally know are likely not out to get you. if this is causing significant disruption to your life and relationships, it may be good to check in with a professional.

it is somewhat affecting my personal life, since the country in which i live has a fairly queerphobic population, thus making me fear for my safety.

i am nevertheless going to consult my psychiatrist about it because im worried it might also be a sign of a mental illness i am predisposed to, although unlikely

No, being paranoid in such a way right now is a good thing if you want better chances of surviving with the ways things are going.
