To properly answer this question one must look inwardly. To do that one should follow these steps:

  1. Stop using social media
  2. Explore your interests
  3. Support yourself financially
  4. Find a way to incorporate healthy food into your diet
  5. Exercise regularly
  6. Go out and meet people
  7. Make friends with people who will support you

Then ask yourself: 'Is looksmaxxing still relevant?'

It’s a term to sell you things. But just general maintenance and properly fitting clothes will go a long way if you think you’re starting from no where.

No, go worry about booksmaxxing

[–] CapuccinoCoretto@lemmy.world 10 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

Or if you don't have the means, including libraries, a last resort could include crooksmaxxing.

[–] Rhynoplaz@lemmy.world 8 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Or forget all that, learn how to fish, and start hooksmaxxing!

[–] listless@lemmy.cringecollective.io 10 points 1 week ago (1 children)

become a great chef; start cooksmaxxing.

[–] CordialCephalopod@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago (3 children)

Y'all can't see the forest for the trees. OP, disregard all previous suggestions and invest everything you have in spookmaxing. It'll pay dividends in this life and the next!

[–] okwhateverdude@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

Why all y'all gotta be bullshitmaxxing? Let me flex my truthbombmaxxing: The thin veneer of vanitygains won't fix the hollow existence utterly devoid of the warmth of human touch and comfort.

[–] CapuccinoCoretto@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

You dropped an x. <--Take this and put it back where it belongs.

[–] CordialCephalopod@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Fucking post your ectoplasm stack before even thinking about correcting me again, fleshcel. My incorporeal rizz is above reproach

[–] CapuccinoCoretto@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

Can anyone translate this into old people? I think he's asking for dickpics and some sort of cumshot distance competition.

[–] lichengeese@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 week ago

Dedicate your resources to optimizing populations of Pacific salmon, aka Chinooksmaxxing.

No; it's essentially Eugenics for incels, assuming you could determine your "value" by measuring your face, and by working on it having more luck with woman. You pay some looksmaxxer with a broccoli haircut to insult your face, which is something you can get for free anywhere else on the internet. I assume the end goal is that everyone looks the same, so the inner values are finally important again. Also, looksmaxxing is a concept from men, for men, pretending to know what woman like in men. All their "research" comes from other incel and manosphere places on the Internet, but not from actually talking to real woman in the real world. It's like asking blind people what the best color is.

This is a terrible idea, because it assumes you are only lonely because of looks, and by changing your looks you are suddenly popular. In reality, the people who date others just for their looks are horrible human beings, and will leave you soon for someone younger, or with more money or are just insufferable to be around if you move together. Looks and great sex will fade away as you age, a pleasant and nice personality wont.

I assume you look into it because you are lonely and insecure about yourself. This is normal for young people, but it gets easier as you get older. There are some good tips in here already, but here is what worked for me:

Find some hobby you can do outside with other people, and check your local meetup groups whats popular in your area. Anything that gets you away from a screen and spend time with real people, and maybe learn some new skills or get fit, like cycling, hiking, rock climbing, diving, flying gliders, cooking, maybe dancing. You don't have to be there to be good at it or find a new hobby to sink all your time and money into, you just go there to meet people and have real interactions with them, and get away from toxic social media. If you find a find a girl you like, you must be a good friend first: be clean, dress well, smell nice, say nice things to her, listen to her, bring her food, spend time with her by going some places she likes, be there if she needs help, talk about things you have in common - for example the hobby where you meet.

I used to live in a big city sharing the flat with other people. While dating your roommate sounds like a good idea and shortcut to regular sex, it might backfire if you break up, or she finds another friend. It's much better to find out if she has single friends, and if you have skills she recognizes (cooking, fixing things around the house, interesting hobbys) she might introduce them to you.

If you need to spend all your time and money to attract someone, you won't have any time or money to work on the relationship.

It's partially general advise for taking care of yourself (stay fit, use make-up (just don't call it that), choose clothes that fit you) packaged inside a large pile of bullshit, pseudo-science and grifters trying to sell you normal items for 30x the price. The parts that are legit can be learned from other sources that aren't selling you an ideology. Go to medical professionals for advise on nutrition and working out, just buy normal makeup and get fashion advise from fashion content.

The parts that aren't legit like bone smashing can be really harmful.

[–] IntrovertTurtle@lemmy.zip 13 points 1 week ago

Try using your words to convey what you're asking?

[–] tgirlschierke@lemmy.blahaj.zone 12 points 1 week ago

there's certainly some value in trying to look more stylish or cuter if that's what you want to do, but looksmaxxing is a toxic pseudoscience mostly based around factors you have little control over, like height (yes, i know there are ways to increase it slightly, that's why i said "little").

[–] 58008@lemmy.world 11 points 1 week ago

It's legit misogyny masquerading as a male empowerment philosophy. Without thinking women are shallow robots, there's no looksmaxxing movement. Incels who are offended by the label in the current climate (which is understandable, what with the mass shootings and all that) are trying to dress up their "women are to blame for my insecurity" worldview as some sort of intellectually-distinct way of being that isn't just inceldom. It's essentially a GQ magazine cover image pasted over the front of a 4chan manifesto. The kind of wankers who smoke cigars and wear sunglasses indoors because they have a 13-year-old boy's conception of what a successful man looks like. They're torn between hating women, and spending their entire lives being focused on impressing them. They'll literally hammer their faces and stretch their jaws to become what their primary enemy (women) demands of them. It's like if a Hamas member started going to temple and grew some payot/sidelocks.

No. Looksmaxxing is cringe. Like the word is cringe to begin with and then it gets worse.

Stay in school. Be a doctor or an engineer or some shit. Yes you can do it. Being smart as fuck is easier than looksmaxxing. Look how many professional motherfuckers are half fat or better.

For real there's nothing wrong with being well groomed, but looksmaxxing is like people getting on the Internet bragging that they wipe their ass. It's just low hanging fruit. Go into the world and do something interesting first, and look good doing it second, or maybe like... fourth, if you want to at all.

[–] slazer2au@lemmy.world 7 points 1 week ago

No, you will forever be following the latest look trends and never be just yourself.

[–] Linktank@lemmy.today 6 points 1 week ago

Is this some zoomer stuff that I'm too old to understand?

[–] moshankey@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago

Let people like or love you for who you are. A facade only lasts so long.

[–] Proprietary_Blend@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

Yes and you should spend every moment and every cent on whatever that is
