!nostupidquestions is a community dedicated to being helpful and answering each others' questions on various topics.

The rules for posting and commenting, besides the rules defined here for lemmy.world, are as follows:

Rules (interactive)

Rule 1- All posts must be legitimate questions. All post titles must include a question.

All posts must be legitimate questions, and all post titles must include a question. Questions that are joke or trolling questions, memes, song lyrics as title, etc. are not allowed here. See Rule 6 for all exceptions.

Rule 2- Your question subject cannot be illegal or NSFW material.

Your question subject cannot be illegal or NSFW material. You will be warned first, banned second.

Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.

Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.

Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Questions which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.

Rule 6- Regarding META posts and joke questions.

Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-question posts using the [META] tag on your post title.

On fridays, you are allowed to post meme and troll questions, on the condition that it's in text format only, and conforms with our other rules. These posts MUST include the [NSQ Friday] tag in their title.

If you post a serious question on friday and are looking only for legitimate answers, then please include the [Serious] tag on your post. Irrelevant replies will then be removed by moderators.

Rule 7- You can't intentionally annoy, mock, or harass other members.

If you intentionally annoy, mock, harass, or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.

Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.

Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.

Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.

Let everyone have their own content.

Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here. This includes using AI responses and summaries.

The FBI labels you a terrorist for "anti-capitalist" sentiment as per the oh so "wonderful" NSPM 7...

https://www.kenklippenstein.com/p/fbis-new-political-pre-crime-center

More things that make you a domestic terrorist:

"Extreme gender beliefs" (transgender support)

"Extreme immigration beliefs" (supporting immigration)

... The land of freedumb for sure.

Say "Immigrants should not be put in cages", and then the government thinks you should be put in a cage.

Not to be rude, but who cares? Authoritarian governments could send a goon squad and shoot you in the face extrajudicially. Seeing they are already doing that for such severe threats to authority as being in a public space, they have no threats left to make. Edit: not making guillotine jokes is not protection.

Legality matters for the "Court of Public Opinion"

[–] CapuccinoCoretto@lemmy.world 6 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

Does it? When brownshits can extrajudicially shoot innocents in the face without consequence "legal" and Public opinion loses much of its meaning.

Public opinion is the difference between some random white dudes being sympathetic and randomly interfering with ICE, and people forming mobs that actively hunt down immigrants

Right now public opinion on ICE is terrible, especially in democratic strongholds... which is why I as a nonwhite immigrant I was able to avoid get harassed by ICE or xenophobic mobs for over a year since he took office

If public opinion on immigrants goes down... if people start beliving in those xenophobic rhetotics... I could get lynched by my neighbors

Excellent point. Good perspective and post.

people forming mobs that actively hunt down immigrants.

That is ICE already. I was thinking "people forming ~~mobs~~ well regulated militias that actively hunt ICE mobs. That just me speaking from my privilege.

who runs the courts though?

Right now, juries still decide for the actual court cases.

Exhibit A: I think they acquitted the "threw a ham sandwich dude"...

Legally? Not a damn thing because it's protected speech.

[–] BillyClark@piefed.social 2 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

It's possible you'd get on a "no fly" list, which could be a problem for some people.

There are probably all sorts of ways that a corrupt government like ours can find ways to punish even perfectly innocent people.

Yeah, if they choose to do legally questionable or outright illegal stuff that needs to be fought and defeated in court or we're in for some grim times.

Well, grimmer anyways...

  1. They know.
  2. they can’t do shit since this people are not targeting a specific person. If they do change the law to make it possible to prosecute guillotine meme, left wing lawyer will be able to prosecute asshole that make « kill all the immigrants » meme. So not a win for them
  3. now they could go full on « illegal detention » like ICE is doing but this never go well and it’s mostly unsustainable in the long run

So it’s easier to let it go. « Guillotine meme » are a social valve. Let them post their anger if they do nothing about it
