Democrats should be playing an ad with that comment non-stop.

[–] village604@adultswim.fan 13 points 3 days ago

They also need to play, "take the guns now and figure out due process later."

Remember all those Biden "I did that" stickers?

These exist, but please don't get a bunch and vandalize property.

I do not live in the US, though I appreciate the suggestion :p

Part of me wonders if those who'd stick on the Bifen version would even realise the irony of the situation. Some of them are so far gone they'll happily flipflop along with Trump's mood dujour, all that matters is that it's their "team" and that they're "winning".

[–] orclev@lemmy.world 107 points 4 days ago (2 children)

Real big "some of you may die, but it's a sacrifice I'm willing to make" energy here. I wonder if he's just going all in on rigging the election so he's not even trying to keep voters happy.

[–] forrgott@lemmy.zip 31 points 4 days ago

He did make exactly that claim during his campaign. "We're gonna fix it so good you never have to vote again."

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 8 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (14 children)

Midterms are so difficult to rig that it would be impossible on a nationwide basis. All you can do is influence it with gerrymandering, and the kind of intimidation and suppression tactics they've been trying, which are hit & miss.

Presidential elections are much easier. You only have to rig one race in only seven states, and they proved they could do that in 2024.

That's why there were millions of straight Democratic ballots, with Trump at the top, all concentrated in the swing states. Nobody votes that way, NOBODY. Yet the Dems declared the race "fair & square" on Election Night, as if the one election Trump needed to win to stay out of prison, was the one time in his entire life that he didn't cheat.

They'll get crushed in the next Midterm, but the 2028 Presidential Election is going to be a major problem. I expect he'll try to do some sort of write-in campaign, then claim that so many people wrote his name in that it disqualifies the Constitution, and he will remain president, by popular demand.

I don't think you comprehend the recon information gathering campaign they have undergone since 2016. DOGE and acquisition of voting machine companies by billionaires got them all they need to have some skids with AI slop rig at scale.

Then there's the elephants in the room. Mail in voting, intimidation and marshall law.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I understand entirely. I've been studying this stuff closely ever since they stole the 2000 election.

The problem with rigging Congressional districts is that there are so many of them, all run by different people, in different regions of every state, that it becomes impossible to keep close enough track of them to 1) Pull off the crime, and them 2) Keep it quiet. With multiple people involved with each district, sooner or later you'll have someone feel guilty, get arrested and want to cut a deal, change their political affiliation, get angry and want revenge, etc. With that many people, in that many districts, it would be impossible to keep it under wraps.

Presidential elections are much easier. You only have to flip one race in only seven swing states, a much easier assignment.

How many companies do you think make voting machines?

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 0 points 2 days ago (1 children)

States use a variety of methods for voting, and not all use machines. Besides, all they need are two companies, and if one gets a bad rep, states will buy from the other one, so they both have to balance any temptation to cheat against their profits.

[–] redsand@infosec.pub 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

They bought both companies 🙄

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

See, how is that legal? JFC...

[–] redsand@infosec.pub 1 points 2 days ago

Laws don't mean much anymore if you haven't noticed. They own the machines or can pay to develop 0days for the ones they don't.

[–] MonkeMischief@lemmy.today 1 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Midterms are so difficult to rig that it would be impossible on a nationwide basis.

But I want to reinforce a message here that we're in crazy-stupid-runaway-clown-state world now, where anything is possible so long as it's 'unprecedentedly' bad for us.

...so we need to make absolutely sure this remains bafflingly impossible so that even a crazy "I can't believe that's stupid enough to work" doesn't somehow pull it off and screw us all over...again.

[–] zebidiah@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 days ago (2 children)

he will place ICE vote minders inside every voting booth.... wanna see a pic of what it's gonna look like??

[–] JcbAzPx@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

They don't have enough ICE employees to do that. Not everywhere. Not in enough places to turn the coming wave. They can make the process painful for their biggest enemies, but that's about it.

[–] MonkeMischief@lemmy.today 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

"Glory to Arstotzka."

I'm curious about the full context of this image. That's insane.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 3 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Valid. Cheating is their normal default state, so they're good at it. You can't take your eyes off these people for a second, they're waiting for that exact moment to strike, and they're always doing something to distract us from their active corruption.

"If they can't afford oil, let them eat cake."

We have literally reached this moment in American history, and Trump is too virtuosically ignorant to understand what it means.

[–] sen@lemmy.zip 7 points 3 days ago

Exactly what came to mind. How many months of life do you think these idiots have left if they keep letting costs rise and people start to starve?

"If they can't buy gas, let them burn vodka."

[–] FaygoRedPop@lemmy.world 52 points 4 days ago (4 children)

I'm so tired. Trump has done enough as to where everyone should hate him and somehow not enough people do. Why even report on him anymore? Why read about Trump anymore? Nothing surprises me. He's going to do whatever he wants, and no one is going to stop him.

[–] Loce@lemmy.world 13 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Tbh, he did enough shit that he would be publicly executed in half of democratic world by now...

[–] OldQWERTYbastard@lemmy.world 4 points 4 days ago

We're soft and have abundance now. Wait until the food gets scarce.

[–] orioler25@lemmy.world 8 points 4 days ago (13 children)

Hey, almost like the point of all this shit is to batter libs into complacency when the system does excactly what it has always and will always do but now they're not as benefited by it in the same way they used to be.

Literally, it would only take one person to stop him, or people near him, or destroy any property of companies that support him with the explicit objective to punish that support. It also has been happening, more than they'd ever admit, but because the system is not overturned the day after middle class libs sour on it, they turn to doomerism because that is the preferable option to accepting the work.

His base only follows the news that the billionaires want them to see. They will never see this and if you share it or try show them they call it fake news

Turns out owning the libs is really fucking expensive.

[–] ragnar_ok@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 2 days ago

by this point it's not even the libs anymore, this is owning everybody. redneck magas from hatecrime, alabama also can't afford shit anymore

Hopefully, being stupid enough to support characters like this orange turd will be as socially unacceptable as taking a dump in the middle of the street... if we survive this one
