Community rules (click to expand)

1. Follow the site-wide rules

2. Be civil
  • Understand the difference between a joke and an insult.
  • Do not harrass or attack users for any reason. This includes using blanket terms, like "every user of thing".
  • Don't get baited into back-and-forth insults. We are not animals.
  • Leave remarks of "peasantry" to the PCMR community. If you dislike an OS/service/application, attack the thing you dislike, not the individuals who use it. Some people may not have a choice.
  • Bigotry will not be tolerated.
  • 3. Post Linux-related content
  • Including Unix and BSD.
  • Non-Linux content is acceptable as long as it makes a reference to Linux. For example, the poorly made mockery of sudo in Windows.
  • No porn, no politics, no trolling or ragebaiting.
  • Don't come looking for advice, this is not the right community.
  • 4. No recent reposts
  • Everybody uses Arch btw, can't quit Vim, <loves/tolerates/hates> systemd, and wants to interject for a moment. You can stop now.
  • 5. πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§ Language/язык/Sprache
  • This is primarily an English-speaking community. πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‡¦πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ
  • Comments written in other languages are allowed.
  • The substance of a post should be comprehensible for people who only speak English.
  • Titles and post bodies written in other languages will be allowed, but only as long as the above rule is observed.
  • 6. (NEW!) Regarding public figuresWe all have our opinions, and certain public figures can be divisive. Keep in mind that this is a community for memes and light-hearted fun, not for airing grievances or leveling accusations.
  • Keep discussions polite and free of disparagement.
  • We are never in possession of all of the facts. Defamatory comments will not be tolerated.
  • Discussions that get too heated will be locked and offending comments removed.

Please report posts and comments that break these rules!

Important: never execute code or follow advice that you don't understand or can't verify, especially here. The word of the day is credibility. This is a meme community -- even the most helpful comments might just be shitposts that can damage your system. Be aware, be smart, don't remove France.

Klitoris would be an add on for KDE for folks who use Thinkpad nubs

    [–] nirodhaavidya@lemmy.world 63 points 1 week ago (3 children)

I'm more of a trackball users. Those little nubs are so hard to find. ( Ν‘~ ΝœΚ– Ν‘Β°)

I prefer playing with my joystick.

    [–] FauxLiving@lemmy.world 25 points 1 week ago

It's right below the Y, if you get to the B you've gone to far down

    "have you looked in nubrubs.conf"

    [–] curbstickle@anarchist.nexus 14 points 1 week ago

I do like my idea of a search tool more, but if it was for the trackpoint clearly it would be for adjusting the sensitivity

    [–] ohulancutash@feddit.uk 11 points 1 week ago

    Rival to GNUbbin

    [–] Crescent@fedinsfw.app 3 points 1 week ago

How do you even use those things efficiently? Also where can I find it on my ThinkPad?

Developing non-kinky shit for Kinky Desktop Environment is frowned upon, a sort of a crime.

FOSS devs: horny since software was invented (or at least since 2011)

    [–] curbstickle@anarchist.nexus 12 points 1 week ago (1 children)

The word "teledildonics" dates back to 1991. Danni's Hard Drive was in 1995, Usenet groups were used to share scans of porn magazines, and anonymous ftp and gopher were used for sharing porn in the 1980s.

Ahhh, I'll always feel nostalgia for 80s-90s era sci-fi optimism.

Flying cars and teledildonics, how hard can they really be, and clearly everyone wants these!

I remember that splash image! It might seem like a joke/meme, but it was an official one:

    https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gimp-data/-/blob/main/images/splash-log.md?ref_type=heads

Search for version 2.7.2 / 2.7.3 on that page

    [–] nonentity@sh.itjust.works 73 points 1 week ago

The Gnome variant would be GSpot.

I wanna make an app for managing child protection settings to keep kids from doing dumb computer stuff. I'm thinking "Kidiot"

    [–] Valmond@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 1 week ago

    Sure better than Klitoris.

    [–] curbstickle@anarchist.nexus 45 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Klitoris - search tool for when you just can't find it but you know it should be there.

    [–] Lodespawn@aussie.zone 20 points 1 week ago (3 children)

Wait .. are people struggling to find clitorises? I guess some are small, but theyre still pretty fucking obvious

    [–] curbstickle@anarchist.nexus 26 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Only as a long standing joke, I don't know anyone who looked and couldn't find it but its also not my first question to people I meet either. Its the second. And they usually walk away before I can ask.

    [–] curbstickle@anarchist.nexus 16 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Oh thats not a question that I can ask online, its more face to face. With a lot of eye contact. A lot of eye contact.

    [–] rtxn@lemmy.world 17 points 1 week ago

It's mostly a joke, although people from regions with lacking or misleading sex ed might not be aware of its importance. Or existence.

It's also possible that the issue is with the technique. Proper stimulation might be difficult to achieve during intercourse if one or both participants are inexperienced or selfish.

    [–] gkaklas@lemmy.zip 37 points 1 week ago (2 children)

You mean the KDE Literature Optical Recognition and Identification System? It's just a plugin for skanpage that helps with book scanning and OCR 🀷 How else would they name it? (I just made it up)

    [–] tutter@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

This is the kinda thinking that writes great books, because you're spot on with the dynamic, If it was to be real, that would be very believable

    [–] MnemonicBump@lemmy.dbzer0.com 24 points 1 week ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

Obviously it's an ebook managing suite called klit

    [–] cley_faye@lemmy.world 15 points 1 week ago

The search thing on KDE is currently called "baloo" or something like that. Klitoris sounds way better.

    [–] SaharaMaleikuhm@feddit.org 9 points 1 week ago

When are we renaming Gwenview btw? It's literally unusable with that name. The feet people are laughing at us!

    [–] festus@lemmy.ca 9 points 1 week ago

Pretty sure MS would name theirs "Internet Manager 6 Extreme Copilot".

    [–] mavu@discuss.tchncs.de 5 points 1 week ago

Would be a bad name for Linux users, they would never find it... (*)
