sidepoint, I love the shitty censor over usernames lmao

[–] EditsHisComments@lemmy.world 23 points 1 month ago (2 children)

The structure of the usernames, and give that it's reddit, makes me think this is a bot replying to a bot's post lmao

[–] silver@das-eck.haus 6 points 1 month ago

WelcomeMatt feels like an older, real username. Anything that ends in 3+ numbers screams bot to me though

[–] Carrot@lemmy.today 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

For almost every account I create, I use the username generator built into my password manager. All my accounts (other than this one, which I accidentally left the numbers off) are a single word followed by 4 numbers

[–] UnimportantHuman@lemmy.ml 1 points 4 weeks ago

Yeah I've been accused of being a bot several times because I do the same lol

Plot twist: the mime censored the usernames

[–] snoons@lemmy.ca 73 points 1 month ago

Are my clothes invisible too or do I have to strangle my landlord naked?

Why are mimes stereotypically only found in Paris?

[–] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 23 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

The main mime academy of the world is there, so most people who want to learn mime go there to study with the most renowned mime teachers.

Might have something to do with it...

Also, Marcel Marceau, hands down the most famous pioneer of mime, was a Parisian. Pretty sure he founded the academy, too.

He also helped french jewish children escape nazi occupation by escorting them over the Alps. He taught them mime along the way to help them manage their anxiety while also staying silent to avoid detection.

And then he went back into occupied France to escort more children to safety. And he did that multiple times.

[–] LuckyBoy@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago (3 children)

Wtf, why is not a tragic comedy movie done yet?

[–] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 7 points 1 month ago

Maybe a silent musical?

[–] ivanafterall@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Starring Kevin Hart, The Rock, and Jack Black.

[–] backalleycoyote@lemmy.today 3 points 1 month ago

Ever since the Jerry Lewis debacle no studio wants to touch anything remotely clown adjacent and set in the 1940s.

[–] ThunderQueen@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

They are also pretty common in NOLA but that is just crawdad paris

[–] lemmytry@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

In medieval Europe, early forms of mime such as mummer plays and later dumbshows evolved. In early nineteenth-century Paris, Jean-Gaspard Deburau solidified the many attributes that have come to be known in modern times—the silent figure in whiteface.

[–] ViceroTempus@lemmy.world 17 points 1 month ago

It's the perfect crime! Even if the mime tried to tell the truth, he'd only get more applause and congratulations for sticking to the bit.

[–] MeowerMisfit817@lemmy.world 10 points 1 month ago

I... still can read the usernames.

[–] W98BSoD@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Hey, it's hard out there for a fake moby

[–] Jax@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

You know mimes can speak, right? Like the mime could just end the act.

[–] anas@lemmy.world 14 points 1 month ago

He thinks he’s ending his act, everyone watching thinks he’s just that committed.

[–] Pat_Riot@lemmy.today 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)
[–] davidagain@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

I have to agree with you there. Yes, definitely.

[–] Underwaterbob@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 month ago

The way I always told it was "beat a mime to death so they'd die a legend". Not sure where I first heard it.

[–] Elilol@fedinsfw.app 2 points 1 month ago

Lol, Classic and Classy.
