Full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

[–] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 12 points 11 hours ago

I take it to mean that trump failed, lost, and made things worse for the world and his own country, so now he doesn't want to play anymore because he is being exposed as a big fat loser.

[–] newton@feddit.online 17 points 1 day ago (1 children)

He lost 16 US bases in 8 country's, that's what it means

[–] MastKalandar@feddit.online -1 points 1 day ago (2 children)

But I have a deeper question. Why would the US maintain bases in other countries ?? What impact it has on the treasury ?? And how does it increase the national prestige ???

[–] luciferofastora@feddit.org 3 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

Military force projection. To maintain an imperial hegemony, you need some kind of presence in the places you're looking to control. That control in turn can be used both for economic advantages (for the imperialist, mind you, not for the exploited) and to establish proxies as defense against other imperialists. The former benefits the treasury; the latter national security.

Both fuck over the other countries, but you can guess how much the imperialist powers care about that.

[–] MastKalandar@feddit.online 2 points 11 hours ago

Well, you're honest !!

[–] Solrac@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

The cost of an empire, and its "freedoms"

[–] modernangel@sh.itjust.works 12 points 1 day ago

tl;dr It means nothing, because he lies twice every time his mouth opens once eyeroll

[–] PixeIOrange@lemmy.world 10 points 1 day ago

He learned a new word

[–] mr_account@lemmy.world 84 points 2 days ago (1 children)

It means he's making another statement to manipulate markets on Monday

[–] nymnympseudonym@piefed.social 9 points 2 days ago

Not this time!

I fixed it by putting in "sell" order for market open on Monday. Gotta pay for my kid's college tuition.

So ofc this will absolutely be the time the market goes down Monday AM. Make my pain your gain: buy put options

"Trump says..." so it means literally nothing.

[–] HubertManne@piefed.social 19 points 1 day ago (2 children)

it means hes calling it officially done then going to claim new action in the area is a new conflict and gets another 60 days.

[–] TemplaerDude@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 day ago

Exactly lol, fucking joke of a country

[–] MastKalandar@feddit.online 2 points 1 day ago (2 children)
[–] plz1@sh.itjust.works 9 points 1 day ago

In addition to Cuba, yes

[–] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Unfortunately, it will work

[–] MastKalandar@feddit.online 0 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

What will work ??🤔🤔🤔

[–] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 1 points 12 hours ago

Trump keeping the war going by saying it's a new war

[–] MastKalandar@feddit.online 2 points 1 day ago

You mean half-time in a football match, where lran has played better than USA ???

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago

"I don't want to be asked about this failure again."

[–] circuitfarmer@lemmy.world 23 points 2 days ago (2 children)

It means he has embroiled the US in yet another war (after campaigning on "no new wars", because he had to distract from his involvement with sex trafficker J. Epstein.

Now he needs to keep the rhetoric up, because it's becoming increasingly obvious that the Iran War is costing the US dearly.

[–] nymnympseudonym@piefed.social 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)

It's probably already cost Taiwan.

(Unless they can do a deal with Ukraine and Japan to churn out a Gundam Drone Army)

[–] MastKalandar@feddit.online 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)
[–] Paragone@lemmy.world 0 points 16 hours ago

Taiwan's fucked:

Trump doesn't give a flying fnord about their life.

& once Trump's dictatorship's instantiated, he's enforcing his "Greater North America" war on Canada, using Greenland to sever our EU-lifeline, WHILE..

enforcing Civil War Part2: confederate-vengeance, WHILE

enforcing imperial-expansion wars throughout the rest of the Americas.

Asia's abandoned.

Europe?

China will simply tell whomever's running Russia: "you rampage on Europe all you can, & we'll supplant you in gov't & industry, in Russia, but you get to play tzar until you die" .. and the ruler(s) of Russia/"Russia" will accept that, because they're otherwise helpless/hobbled/powerless, & asserting-power's an addiction.

China gets the West grinded-down, without Chinese blood spilt, AND..

China can then concentrate on grinding-down Asia.

No help from the West.

No help from anybody.

Modi's India, which bet the whole farm on Russia standing with them against China .. has nothing, then.

ClimatePunctuation'll trash India while they're trying to fight China ( which is probably part of why China won't ditch coal, tbh ).

EVERYthing in this world's current-vectors is setting-up Regional Consolidation Time(tm).

7-ish years of each region getting .. not-diverse.

( I expect that whomever it is who ends-up owning the Middle-East, they will then set about owning Africa, and I don't expect that to be Netanyahu or Iran. )

Gaza somethingorother....

"It's being towed beyond the environment"

[–] atzanteol@sh.itjust.works 20 points 2 days ago (1 children)

It's yet more gaslighting. "This isn't a war, that would be illegal."

[–] MastKalandar@feddit.online 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)
[–] Paragone@lemmy.world -1 points 17 hours ago

I believe "special military operation" is the .. traditional .. term.

/s

[–] Naich@piefed.world 24 points 2 days ago (2 children)

It means the same thing as all the other times he says something stupid: he's a senile fuckwit.

[–] nymnympseudonym@piefed.social 9 points 2 days ago

Please. You diminish his life goals by failing to include "pedo" and "rapist"

[–] JeeBaiChow@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

... that the majority of us voters felt was super appropriate to take office a second time, no doubt due to the bang up job he did the first time.

[–] Paragone@lemmy.world -3 points 17 hours ago

Most of the heavy-lifting in voting against Harris seemed to come down to

  1. Biden fucked-over her opportunity to campaign
  2. the white-supremacist vote
  3. the male-supremacist vote
  4. her unflinching backing of Netanyahu, & his .. "special military operations" in other countries, Gaza, West-Bank, etc.

It wasn't voting for Trump, rather, it was voting against Harris, that put Trump in power, from what I can see.

It means that he wasn't going to get an AUMF from Congress in his 60 day window, which is what I pretty much expected. Now it sounds like he's going to try to continue the blockade portion (i.e. not the bombing) but argue that imposing a blockade doesn't constitute deployment of troops, which I suspect isn't going to fly if it comes to court. But we'll see how the legal and political maneuvering plays out.

[–] Paragone@lemmy.world 0 points 16 hours ago

You forgot to include that if he starts bombing Iran again, then that's a "new, separate" war, not restarting the same old one.

Machiavellians gonna machiavelliate, right?

_ /\ _

Cuba set the precedent over 65 years ago. It'll probably fly

[–] nymnympseudonym@piefed.social 7 points 2 days ago

if it comes to court

🤣

[–] switcheroo@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago

It means the Pedo-in-Chief has fuck-all knowledge of how to do anything so he makes up shit that his sycophants will believe...

[–] jaxxed@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago

"Mission accomplished" but they couldn't get him onto the aircraft carrier

[–] Typotyper@sh.itjust.works 6 points 2 days ago

It's Friday. He normally pushes one narrative to lower stock prices on a Friday and then another early in the week to scare the market so prices rise.

[–] Marshezezz@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 1 day ago

Nothing at all

This is all for show. He's violating the constitution because he can. If the war went to the current dysfunctional congress for approval, it would be a mix of "anything for you" and "it's too late to stop now."
