Dual sim for the win. Just have a pre pay eSIM and fire it up when you want to have a cheeky wank. God knows anyway - so what’s the worry?

[–] kamen@lemmy.world 1 points 6 days ago (1 children)

What if you want to have a non-cheeky wank?

This is stupid on so many levels. And actually is distracting from my evening “me time”

1st blocked thing is fine, the 2nd isn't

If you have to self-police like that, your followers don't believe in the morals you preach.

[–] thallamabond@lemmy.world 172 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Reminds me of being asked how I keep from murdering and raping people, since I do not believe in an eternal damnation.

[–] NOT_RICK@lemmy.world 91 points 1 week ago

What do you mean being a good person is its own reward?!?

[–] reksas@sopuli.xyz 60 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

scary people, if religion is only thing that keeps them from doing that, which that question implies.

[–] Steve@startrek.website 26 points 1 week ago (2 children)

How do you hold back the nonstop compulsion to commit horrible crimes which we all feel constantly??

I think this network will primarily be used by parents to keep their kids from being tempted into sin or discovering that queer people exist

[–] webkitten@piefed.social 44 points 1 week ago (3 children)

They're gonna be shocked to find out that Jesus shared his body with 12 other men.

or discovering that queer people exist

So they'll never know that people of the same sex fuck each other and continue to perpetuate hate towards them. Now that is sin.

If you have to self police like that, you might have a gay porn problem.

Why would they have to block anything? Surely a real Christian wouldn't be interested in any of that in the first place!

[–] freddo@lemmy.zip 24 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Yes but the devil plays weird tricks so they may be tempted by those.

[–] Insekticus@aussie.zone 23 points 1 week ago (2 children)

I like how it's always Satan playing tricks.

Why isn't it their god just making sure they're worth getting into the afterlife?

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 6 days ago

Because it literally makes zero sense

[–] Allero@lemmy.today 16 points 1 week ago (4 children)

It gets so so much worse once you unpack this.

Consider these two points:

  • God is omnipotent, i.e. He can create or destroy or do anything He wants.
  • God is omniscient, i.e. He knows what happened, happens and will happen, and everything about the world He created.

With the powers He has, He:

  • Intentionally created humans that would fall for apple trick (as an omniscient being, He knew in advance they will)
  • Intentionally created Satan to set the scene
  • Dramatically exiled humans from heavens as if it's their fault (knowing full well it's His work, not theirs)

So, instead of just making a swarm of loyal creatures, he decided to be playful and make those creatures eternally ashamed of themselves, struggling to earn His approval even when He actively made their lives miserable through cataclysms, genocides, and all sorts of calamities.

He's literally a celestial "why are you hitting yourself?" bully, expecting to bully billions of people into servitude.

[–] osanna@lemmy.vg 3 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago) (1 children)

And if gayness is wrong, why did he make his creatures (non-human) participate in it? Homosexuality has been documented in thousands of species around the globe.

Checks out

I imagine CSAM content will be exempt from this block.

It's tempting to shrug this off as not my business, but if this kind of entity becomes widespread enough, then you can get into situations where a future government, more radical than what we have today, could feasibly mandate people to use these types of networks

[–] carotte@lemmy.blahaj.zone 15 points 1 week ago (1 children)

even without that there are people who will be forced to use this, like kids of religious parents

You know who didn't block sex-workers and Queer people? Jesus.

(Jesus offends the religious authorities more than a few times because of His associations, notably "prostitutes"--with a later tradition holding that the woman to whom Jesus' return from death was first revealed, Mary Magdalene, was herself a sex-worker; as for Queer followers in the Bible, Jesus makes reference to "eunuchs" and Jesus Himself seems to fit on the asexual scale)

[–] boogiebored@lemmy.world 35 points 1 week ago (1 children)

jesus never banged chicks, hung out with a buncha dudes and loved rainbows.

Only time I remember anyone blocking nudity in the Bible was Satan inciting that in the garden.

Good. Let them stay on their own network, and stop trying to pass bullshit laws that will never work. Get them their own ISPs as well.

Problem is, they will be strongly exposed to fascist propaganda on these networks. But I suppose they are already lost. Let the rest of us move on with our lives.

Why does this even exist? Just configure DNS or child block.

[–] inclementimmigrant@lemmy.world 38 points 1 week ago (2 children)

The bulk of Christians can't even read their damn Bible so what makes you think they could read about how to configure their DNS?

bigotry in religion? thats old news, isp blocking based on those bigotries, well thats old news too but somehow this is a new level of stupid and awful. great.

[–] InvalidName2@lemmy.zip 13 points 1 week ago

Why would they need to block that kind of content to begin with? Wouldn't the Christians using their network simply not even try to access that material? It'd be like me remodeling my house to keep great white sharks out of my bathtub.
