I'm not subscribed to any video streaming sites, too pricey for just watching one thing once in a while. As for audio, I have Tidal and so far it has been quite good actually; but if that ever changes I'll just revert back to physical media/piracy.
Steam sales tend to be pretty good, what's even better is that keysites tend to drop the price accordingly.
When I look at all the paid streaming services they generally only have about 3 titles that appeal to me. It just makes economic sense to watch those titles that appeal to you and cancel afterwards. If you are making 100k a year then who cares about a $500 in streaming services per year. That just means Gen Z is being smart with their money.
Plus there're so many old titles you can watch with ads for free on Pluto, YouTube etc. And if you are really poor there's always the high seas.
Yep. I'm a millennial. I was always pirating as a teenager/early 20s. Then I did join streaming, just Netflix and another local one. I'm about to cancel them both again as I rebuild my own library.
I was reworking my budget the other day and accidentally opened my old one from 5 years ago, so depressing 😅 Everything has gone up so much, seeing it all laid out in a spreadsheet was confronting 😭 both streaming services have doubled in price. 2 streaming services costs $500 a year total - as you say, maybe not a big deal if you're earning 100k but as a low income earner it's worth cutting. It's only going to keep up going up! Subscription models suck for other programs and services too, it adds up so quickly 😭
That's exactly what I do as a millenial/gen Y. The last time I purchased a full-price game was probably Dragon Age Origins.
Well I'm going to be honest I don't think I know of anyone who actually pays for such stuff. At least for streaming. All my friends just pirate and have always been doing it.
