Does anyone know any open source alternatives to Bitwarden?

The pattern is always the same: build trust, establish dependency, then quietly renegotiate the terms.

  • Demonstrate Value

  • Engage Physically

  • Nurture Dependence

  • Neglect Emotionally

  • Inspire Hope

  • Separate Entirely

The only options I see discussed are:

  • proton
  • keepassxc
  • self host vaultwarden

A few years ago I learned VC was significantly involved in BW so have been anticipating it would eventually be demolished. I check alternatives occasionally but they are slim on the ground.

i don't know why i ever thought bitwarden would be any different... it started out so nice. i've been using it for so many years with no issues, and then just WHAM, they change the interface, it doesn't make sense anymore, and then they double the price without saying anything really.

i'd love to have a new alternative spring up like Bitwarden did when lastpass started sucking ass.
