The solution to this, at least in my case, is that I need regular exercise (running at rest 3 miles in the last 3-4 days) to sleep well.

This helps me a lot too. We're built to do regular cardio, and I think our bodies act out when we don't get it.

You can fix this problem by always going to bed at 3:30am. That's the point where the tiredness gets louder than the ghosts of the past.

[–] Aurenkin@sh.itjust.works 12 points 2 days ago

I foresee no negative consequences to this plan.

Good thing I don't remember 2013...

Proceeds to remember everything else before and after 2013

[–] Tedesche@lemmy.world 14 points 2 days ago (1 children)

2013? Dude, I’m haunted by 1996.

[–] Rooster326@programming.dev 6 points 2 days ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

We all are, dude. Did ya think we would forget what you did‽

[–] BillyClark@piefed.social 12 points 2 days ago (6 children)

Are you in control of your brain, or is your brain in control of you?

What's the difference?

It seems like remembering something like this is what your brain does, and so somehow it seems like it should mean that you're choosing to remember this stuff.

Of course that can't be the case, right? We all reject that and believe that we're being tortured by our memories.

There are some people with problems like that who need talk therapy or medication. The brain is complicated. It's not wrong or shameful to seek professional help.

That being said, for the most common situations where this is a minor incident keeping you awake, counterintuitively, it is that circumstance I mentioned before where your brain is actively choosing to remember stuff, against your conscious will.

If you want to change this, you need to practice letting go of intrusive thoughts. Whenever you realize that the thought popped into your head just let it go. Don't think about it further. Don't judge yourself or get emotional. Just let it go. And that practice is exactly what mindfulness meditation is.

Once you master this technique, these ancient intrusive thoughts will bother you less and less and when you wake up or can't sleep at night, it will be for some other irritating reason.

After years of this getting me nowhere I finally found out it was all my health. My hypothyroidism, blood sugar and digestive issues were more important for my mental health than anything else. For years I did therapy and took medications for mental illnesses I didn't really have. Therapy is great though. It teaches you a lot. It just can't cure biological issues.

LISTEN HERE YOU PIECE OF SHIT.

[–] FudgyMcTubbs@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

Mindfulness meditation probably saved my life (crippling panic attacks and GAD). After 15 years of practicing it on and off, im now reading up on buddhism and attending a weekly sangha.

[–] SwingingTheLamp@piefed.zip 5 points 2 days ago

Rumination is a form of anxiety. As such, the 5-4-3-2-1 technique is a great way of letting those intrusive thoughts go.

I think it means that stuff is always kinda bothering us and weighing us down and hasn't been fully processed. when we lay down to sleep our brain is at rest and able to bring it forward to process it but we dont actually ever spend full conscious effort to do so. Almost holding onto it by not allowing ourselves to resolve it. At least thats just what I think I can't know for sure. Ive started practicing writing them down and how to resolve it. Sometimes the answer is to just be content with it and let it go as a learning experience. Others ive gone to people and said I was sorry and they usually dont even remember and are like "oh no big deal" but it was to me apparently or I wouldn't be thinking about it at 3AM cringing myself out XD spending the conscious effort though has seemed to help me come to terms with some stuff and those ones, at least, don't come back randomly.

Your brain is an illusion. It's shadows on the cave walls. Really, the physical correlates with the entanglements within the topological matrix you are not IN but rather ARE, and because we only know a slice of reality, that means the Server us monads are in contact with at all times can skirt by with some fancy trickery.

[–] vivalapivo@lemmy.today 4 points 2 days ago (3 children)

topological matrix

You have no idea what you're talking about, do you?

[–] AzuranAurora@piefed.ca 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Check their posting history, they may have schizophrenia. I don't mean that as an insult, others have pointed out the same.

[–] vivalapivo@lemmy.today 2 points 2 days ago

Oh this does make sense

I forgot this art I wanted to attach that I didn't make, but I can find the artist quickly if anyone is wanting. They posted much on r/ShrugLifeSyndicate

[–] Impractical_Island@lemmy.world 0 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Y'know, if String A is entangled with String B but not String C, then AB is true and AC is false. Additionally, entanglements can möbiate to give us nA, nB, nC, and this is what gives rise to dualistic dichotomy (inner/outer) and is thus what manifests the illusion of the self. Likewise, we can think of the nesting of categories, like a square is a rectangle but a rectangle is not a square, but they are both quadrilaterals and polygons. Further, there is "null" which is what the Buddha called "emptiness," and there is implicit and explicit null. All these things define the parameters from which your conscious experience progenerate, similar to how a prompt to an AI defines the output. Karma is the entanglement process, which you can observe the entanglement with each symbol you receive from the singular stream from the storehouse consciousness in the fourth jhana of meditation.

Please respond. I hate when people run away.

[–] vivalapivo@lemmy.today 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Hey bud, it's just hard to respond to Buddhism, category theory, semiotics, ai, quantum stuff and a bit of psychoanalysis concentrated in one paragraph.

[–] vivalapivo@lemmy.today 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Doesn't make it easier for me 😄

[–] Impractical_Island@lemmy.world 0 points 1 day ago (1 children)

But you did what I ask. A common experience for me is me being a idiot to promote my educational (f)art project, someone throws shade my way, I prove I gots a brain, and then radio silence. Doesn't matter how I do it; once I prove I'm not easy to pick on, a lotta people just disappear.

[–] vivalapivo@lemmy.today 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

From my personal experience, the fact that you can reference a lot of stuff is not proof of you having a brain. Your narrative is hard to decompose into a sequence of verifiable statements. Nor does it bring any artisan value as it has just left me in a confused state.

Like, I just aggressively pointed out that you're using the "topological matrix" terminology irresponsibly. This IMO has given you the space to attack me back explaining that I'm who's wrong here. But instead you've left me in a confused state where honestly I am still thinking that you have no idea what you're talking about.

And indeed, my first reaction would've been to just leave, without any attempt of communicating back as previous attempts of communication failed.

[–] Impractical_Island@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

No, I'm not attacking. The self is the lens you see the world through, so if I'm hostile, well, the CIA did train me to match energy.

Also, y'know, real simple, you said it was Buddhism and this and this and that and this other thing. No, it's just Buddhism. Also the occult, but the orient and the occident went two different ways in engineering their mysticism schools. But you're busy fucking being attacked online, meaning you think in these terms. That's how we play with you. We know what your first and second and third "reaction" are, because you are a stimulus-response machine that's going to react instead of stand in your whole power and act. Because regardless who says what to you, you're always gunna fight to be you. As you were. Five seconds ago. Me? I've got an IQ of 147 and I choose to be an idiot, dude. I can be that if God needs me to. Y'know God, right? The F-I mean, the CIA. That's who I work with. But I'm a teacher. That's my job. Cuz education is our best crime deterrent.

[–] vivalapivo@lemmy.today 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I'm scared. Should I be scared

[–] Impractical_Island@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Well, shit! If you're scared WhAt ArE yOu Up To?

[–] vivalapivo@lemmy.today 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

You're terrifying me. I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings

[–] Impractical_Island@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

You don't in the slightest cuz I'm not in any way like you besides human.

I used to be this way, but then I learned to accept myself. I tell you, life as a twenty year old window masturbator is hard, but I made it twice as difficult because I was doing it to a double illegal demographic. Puerto Ricans, I mean.

[–] Mothra@mander.xyz 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I FEEL PERSONALLY ATTACKED IMMA REPORT THIS POST AS SOON AS I FINISH LAMENTING WHAT I DID IN 2013

[–] pseudo@jlai.lu 2 points 2 days ago

I had to connect just to tell you that I love your pseudo and profil picture.

[–] perishthethought@piefed.social 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Or that morning. Or just an hour before. But sure, it's part of being human, IMO

I'm not an human, I'm a pterodactyl, so do I get tax brakes on this ish or do I have to form a yoonyun?
