I've been waiting on these chillies for two years, and they never produced. I've been distracted by legal and financial shit the past two years, so I wasn't paying proper attention. Then I realized the chillies were killed by helicopter tree seeds and I've been cultivating trees.
How many years until you can harvest a helicopter? Then you could fly to the store and buy chilies.
With a mature helicopter they could fly to Chile!
It can get chilly down there.
There are a couple species of maple trees that should be classified as weeds.
In my books, this one is.
Fucking Box Elders for one.
Oof... those little maples are a pain... for my planters, I buy one of those cheap little mosquito net boxes and set over them to keep that stuff out while they're falling.
Definitely high on my agenda. That and keep the squirrels away.
Squirrels, you'll have to beef it up... they'll eat those nets like nothing. Your best bet for squirrels is a deterrent of some kind, keep them away entirely instead of just trying to keep them out.
I use a big ass trebuchet baited with nuts to keep the squirrels at least three hundred meters away.

Trying to grow cayenne, to get rid of squirrels so that I can have cayenne. Dang, squirrels are cat-league when it comes to black hand tactics.
Ha, I read that as "while they're failing" and I felt kindred in our abilities to grow trees in pots.
I am 0/1 in trying to grow trees in pots lol so I'm with you.
If you try again I cannot recommend wood chip mulch highly enough. After you plant your seeds, cover with a few inches.
The wood chips help the soil retain moisture, reduce temperature fluctuation, and deter unwanted seeding
This makes sense. And weirdly, I actually have woodchips that have been in the garage for almost 2 years that we were going to throw out. Thanks for this tip.

Just FYI most plants that produce food are kind of high maintenance. Especially after it has sprouted it probably will need to be watered several times a week to survive (I don't have a ton of experience though with peppers, I don't love them like my pops does)
Haha, something similar happened to me - thankfully just with a common potted plant: despite being extremly easy to take care of, it was doing worse and worse. All of it, except for one branch (or so I thought) that was also a deeper green.
Turns out something else started growing in there and killed off the original plant.
That other plant is still growing there now. I think it might be a lemon or orange plant.
I fumed for a moment, then laughed when I realized I was growing trees.
That being said, pretty cool to get a lemon or orange plant out of it.
Grow maples and harvest their syrup out of spite
