Right but also, turn on your sponsorblock.

Got the extension. Love that Waterfox comes with it now by default else I wouldn’t have known about it.

Why people would watch vanilla YouTube without a privacy front like invidious, newpipe or SmartTube is beyond me. No ads, no algorithm, sponsorblock, no click bait thumbnails and convenient download options

As much as the algorithm can be annoying and awful. Something the scope of YouTube with out an algorithm at all is fucking stupid.

It is literally humanly impossible to sift though YouTube with out some form of algorithmic assistance.

Newpipe has an algorithm and an incredible search function. It breaks every now and then, but it's great otherwise. It says it's going away after google crashes sideloading though.

Please remember where this road leads: DRM. Law, not technology. We need to prepare our collective infrastructure for that eventuality now while we still can.

That is why I self-host https://github.com/TeamPiped/Piped ; it is a bit of work to setup, especially because you need a SSL certificate. But man that thing is fast.

But you can also just play the video in mpv.

Part of the loading process now. Sometimes I'll open a video at work and be reminded how having adblocking isn't a default thing.

I just have to make sure to be a bit patient and not hit play the second i can - if i wait until the video controls are loaded and use those, i never had any "interruption" except of that laughable popup

On mobile i use grayjay, and this reminded me that i gotta test the new desktop versions.

I just started copying and pasting everything into invidious
