wow.

wow.
It’s definitely incredible when done right. I do think the photo mode in games cheese it a little, as I’m sure they done some fancy magic with rendering, but I still see some amazing stuff come out of modern games
not as good as the first one imo. new combat styles is a cool idea, but being limited to two at a time just means I'm always going to use the two that I already know from the first game, because figuring out how to use a new one inherently means failing more often, which just feels not fun in the moment. really wanted to like the crossguard style, but it's unbearably slow
I did end up preferring the Dual Wielding style, but for most of my game so far I’ve stuck to the ones from the first 2
I enjoyed the game itself but it was very unstable for me on my Linux PC with an AMD gpu. From what I could find that's a common issue, but I guess it speaks for the quality of the game that I still completed it by quickly moving from savepoint to savepoint and restarting each time.
I still think Jedi Survivor was the better game altogether. There's a lot of criticism about missing quicktravel, but honestly I enjoyed having to traverse the levels to your target and back to the spaceship, it felt more like a cohesive adventure.
I have an all AMD Linux rig and it sounds like to me I dodged a bullet. I’m relieved about that.
And yeah, I think you put how I feel into words far better with the quick travel. It feels far more cohesive and meaningful, like in a way you were more in tune with Cal and experiencing the trip too
Yeah, I love those few rpgs where quick travel just doesn't exist, or at least only in a diegetic way (Gothic 1 + 2 comes to mind). "Just don't use it" doesn't cut it most of the time, since the game designers need to be forced to make the game actually fun while having to walk everywhere.
I ended up forcing myself to play BoTW again that way. It was an interesting perspective. It made it feel more like a heroic epic
I can't recall, was this the issue specifically related to RX 6000 series cards? I was halfway through the game when I happened to upgrade my GPU by chance, only later learning it was a problem for fhat gen
I didn't research for to long since several of the supposed fixes (that many people in the threads said didn't work anyways) were changing settings in Windows/AMDs windows software, but I was using an 7900XTX so that is definitely affected as well
That first image is insane and no lightsaber pic? We were robbed.
I’ve actually got a lightsaber pic somewhere on a previous post

Unless you mean the one with Dagan, in which case I don’t have a picture of just the saber, but I do have a full body shot I took.

Idk why but I fuckin loved Dagan as a character and his design as a one-armed lightsaber-wielding powerful Force-user. He kicked so much ass and was super compelling imo. In fact it's kinda made me want to actually check out the High Republic stuff.
When fighting him it made me stop and go “I really want to go back and play KoTOR”. It might be a future stop I make.
Also him missing an arm is fucking bad ass. I really hope they don’t give him a prosthetic or anything because the lack of symmetry in his design makes it so much more memorable. Plus coming off of Fallen Order I feel like he pulls off the “Fallen Jedi” thing better than what’s-his-face working with Merrin
Honestly all the villains in this one are incredibly strong. Way better than the first imo
The only one I found myself really caring about in the first one was the Second Sister. The rest were all eh. I only really remember some of them because I struggled with a few of the boss fights for them
I would really like to play this game, but the combination of the EA launcher and Unreal Engine with Proton means that Steam shows 3 hours played, when I actually have maybe 20 minutes in game 😮💨
Ironically this is the first game I don’t have an issue with the EA Launcher. I don’t know if it’s proton GE or somehow someway EA fixed an issue (Probably proton GE) but it actually closes when I tell it too
I must be in hell. It was 39C today and EA is giving me blue balls. I've tried every proton version I can think of. Which distro are you using? I'm also crashing in other games, and I'm starting to wonder if it's a problem with Linux Mint.
CachyOS. I’m using the latest version of Proton GE-10. All AMD rig with 7600 XT 16 GB and 32 GB of RAM.
How much RAM do you have? I heard there were memory leak problems, but the way everyone talks it sounds like they aren’t an issue on Linux. I’m wondering if I was mistaken and I just have enough RAM to outlast it or something
My setup is very similar. Ryzen 5 7600X, Radeon 6800 XT, and 32GB RAM. I'll give catchyOS a try, and see if it helps at all.
Switching from Bazzite to CachyOS helped my rig quite a bit from what I remember, that may just be me generalizing in my memory though. Whatever ends up happening I wish you luck and hope you’re able to fix it though!
