Showerthoughts

A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.

Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:

Rules

  1. All posts must be showerthoughts
  2. The entire showerthought must be in the title
  3. No politics
    • If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
    • A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion
  4. Posts must be original/unique
  5. Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct and the TOS

If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.

Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.

This seems like "vaguebooking" to me. Your comment doesn't make much sense without context, and you've conspicuously provided none.

law enforcement abusing AI is wretched.

No one gives a fuck about your self hosted theft machine.

[–] thermal_shock@lemmy.world 5 points 13 hours ago

They used to give a fuck. I think they know they lost that battle.

Could you explain how people are prosecuted for self hosting AI?

[–] thermal_shock@lemmy.world -1 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

Not just ai, but torrents and the like.

[–] garbage_world@lemmy.world 3 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

I can understand why would someone be prosecuted for seeding illegal materials, but not for local AI

Laws are wild.

I kind of don't understand why people haven't figured out it's not about us. It's not about humanity as a species. The world is dominated by the game of business, power, and control. The game wants to conquer humanity like it did everything else... It doesn't want what's best for humanity. We should know better by now. It's to the point the complaints are getting "Karen". Like Karen, you should have figured it out by now this is a McDonald's slave encampment not a 5 star steakhouse.

Not trying to make a jab at you specifically and sorry if I come off as a cunt.

Because humanity has a terminal case of main-character syndrome

Maybe even worse. Like... When you look at it... When you see it all combined as one organism, its like one giant cancerous psychopath eating away at all the good it has/had.

Can you explain how people are being persecuted for self-hosting?

[–] kambusha@sh.itjust.works 4 points 18 hours ago

Perhaps it's self-abuse

Poor baby. My heart is breaking for you

I bet it's "people hate my AI too! even though it's only a theft machine and not running in a data center that's choking off humanity."
