I'm really happy with how my body is looking, I thought I would have a skinnyfat belly forever but I've been working that off and my back fat too, from sitting so much. I have a natural waist now and my legs look great if I do say so myself

Rules: (interactive)
1) Be nice and; have fun
Doxxing, trolling, sealioning, racism, toxicity and dog-whistling are not welcomed in AskLemmy. Remember what your mother said: if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. In addition, the site-wide Lemmy.world terms of service also apply here. Please familiarize yourself with them
2) All posts must end with a '?'
This is sort of like Jeopardy. Please phrase all post titles in the form of a proper question ending with ?
3) No spam
Please do not flood the community with nonsense. Actual suspected spammers will be banned on site. No astroturfing.
4) NSFW is okay, within reason
Just remember to tag posts with either a content warning or a [NSFW] tag. Overtly sexual posts are not allowed, please direct them to either !asklemmyafterdark@lemmy.world or !asklemmynsfw@lemmynsfw.com.
NSFW comments should be restricted to posts tagged [NSFW].
5) This is not a support community.
It is not a place for 'how do I?', type questions.
If you have any questions regarding the site itself or would like to report a community, please direct them to Lemmy.world Support or email info@lemmy.world. For other questions check our partnered communities list, or use the search function.
6) No US Politics.
Please don't post about current US Politics. If you need to do this, try !politicaldiscussion@lemmy.world or !uspolitics@lemmy.world
7) No Hit-and-Run questions.
Please don't delete your post for no apparent reason. If you plan on deleting a question later, say so in the post, or if you feel that you have a good reason to remove it, message a mod beforehand. It's not fair to the ones who took their time to answer, and it's not in the spirit of the community.

I frequently trade smiles with random people on the street! No words, just smiles!
"This too shall pass"
the world is not gonna end because we have renewable energy.
I hate to burst your bubble, especially in a thread like this.
I'm really sorry.
90% of earths topsoil is at risk of depletion by 2050 That's what all the food grows in btw and without arable land, there is no way to feed 8+ billion people.
Global freshwater demand will exceed supply 40% by 2030 and without fresh water, we can't support 8+ billion people.
Global human population has surpassed Earth’s sustainable carrying capacity.
Global carbon emissions are still rising
The arctic sea ice extent is declining rapidly and we're likely headed into a Blue Ocean Event later this year, and potentially a double BOE depending on how the El Nino and summer in the southern hemisphere go.
The world is likely to exceed a key global warming target soon but the earths alebedo with the declining sea ice and lack of cloud cover will impact these numbers massively and isn't being predicted for, which means that 4.5c above the baseline by 2060 is now possible.?
You must be fun at parties. This is a post about hope not doomer thoughts.
Which is why I apologised and spoilered it.
Plus it's considered a bit of a dick move if you know terrible things are going to happen and you don't try to educate and warn people who believe misinformation.
I'm a joy at parties, it's hard not to be when you bring enough mdma to share.
literally in a hope posting thread 🙄
Because not EVERYTHING is a total dumpsterfire. The news cycle usually focuses on the negative, while I can see a lot of positive out my window.
When global news is too depressing, I find something positive on a local level. There's always something. No matter how small, and how limited in scope, there's always something bright to be found. I could give you plenty of examples, but it'd be highly anecdotal and probably not applicable to you.
But look outside: There's probably a park being opened somewhere. A volunteer group is probably making a difference somewhere. There are always someone making am effort. There's always someone being concerned with the wellbeing of others.
Look for the helpers. (Yes, I stole that from Dungeon Crawler Carl). They may not be the most visible aspect of your surroundings, but they're definitely there.
And since you asked for examples from my life:
- The rose park close to my house is getting an upgrade
- I visited my childhood home today. It was nice seeing that the ones who bought it take well care of it. Seeing the inside was refreshing and new, without being unfamiliar. My dad built that house shortly after I was born, and while it is showing its age, the loadbearing timber was sourced from our property, and overkill for what they were supposed to handle. Some regular renovations will ensure that house stands for another 43 years at least.
- The tiny town O gew up in (even though "town" is an overstatement) has gotten a major face-lift over the past few decades. Local politicians are actually doing a stellar job when it comes to funding nice things.
"look for the helpers" is a Mr Rogers quote/lesson.
I completely agree with everything you said.
Our transition mtf is doing really well, but tight in money but still kicking living off our position of art with our significant other!
We’re also working on building ideas and assets for a small shop/company rn and it’s been letting us and our partner closer with idea sharing.
at some point in the not so distant future I'll be too dead to care about any of this shit.
before that time I plan on making the world a little better for my kids.
Just started learning the bass guitar and having a blast with it.
Hell yeah, glad to hear it! Music is the best thing I've got going, so I'm always glad to hear other people getting into playing instruments. Keep at it, bass is awesome!
Playing guitar & clarinet, and never going back to the mental health system again.
and never going back to the mental health system again.
Hear hear to that! This is a vow of mine too.
There is something "good" all the time, but that doesn't make me less depressed. I'm re-reading a great manga at the moment, work is going well, I go to the gym maybe once a week, I'm making progress in programming (hobby) and I eat blueberry pie almost everyday at a café. These things are good and they are ongoing. But
cw: negativity
life still feels meaningless and I see no reason to live. Sorry. 😭
Is there any reason in particular for your doomy feelings?
Life goes on! There are always bright moments.
Me going outside:

Only two years left before I can flee the suburbs and actually see stars.
I'm simplifying things, and have been somewhat lucky in my interests.
I want nature, minimalism and space, and not having money doesn't really hinder that. I'm finding that people can carve their own havens out of the ashes of the world, no matter how bleak it tends to get.
So you can't have X or Y, what can you have? What can you do? Go meet people, attend store openings, local concerts, fairs, farmer's markets. Stop off the side of the road and photograph that sick moonshot you saw. Shake that homeless guy's hand and let him know he's seen. Make trophies out of small victories.
Feeling powerless in the face of authoritarianism and inequality is a mental game. When you don't let anyone stop you from your happiness and goals, and reach them regardless, that's rebellion.
The untouchables still give me hope
Is that like lunchables?
If you have hope for the future you probably aren’t reading any of the climate crisis science. Or you think you’re going to heaven.
No hope for future of life on this planet. Only hope for life after death.
