I mean it is possible that future Presidents will be more evil

He'll still have fans after he is gone, just like there are old men who still pine for Stalin and Hitler.
Probably. It’s hard to think of another president that fucked kids, and was this blatantly corrupt.
Jefferson TW Sexual Assault
Tap for spoiler
raped an enslaved woman and enslaved his own children.
I think when future history books are written about the downfall of America they'll be entire chapters dedicated to his contribution to the collapse.
I'd say it's toss up between him and Andrew Jackson. The trail of tears was pretty bad.
Would be? He is.
In a contemporary sense or in a historical sense?
Obviously the latter is virtually impossible to determine but I suspect he'll be somewhere in the top 5.
Just as obviously he's #1 in a contemporary sense. There is a lot of hate for Obama from people who swear they aren't racist, but moderates and Democrats like/love him. I feel like Biden is universally slightly disliked. I think Bush Jr. is similar. Clinton's probably between slightly disliked and slightly liked.
Trump, on the other hand, is between vilified and slightly disliked recently (thanks to the Iran War and the Epstein Files). Sure, lots of people pretend to like or love him in public, but I think that's usually performative to align with political allies as you're virtually obligated to do under authoritarian rule. Just look at how few MAGAs turned out for America's 250th. They just aren't enthusiastic about him any more.
I kinda wonder if he'll end up like Nixon. The people who still like him will "forget" about him.
They'll pretend they never supported him
I guess it depends what you mean exactly. Hated by people now? Hated by contemporaries? Hated by specifically American voters vs anyone affected by them? Total number of people who hate? Proportion of population? Intensity of hatred?
There’s also the extent to which media plays a role in this. We’re constantly aware of all the horrible shit Trump is doing, but the average person probably wouldn’t know much about say, The Trail of Tears at the time and it’s hard to say if they’d care given the way natives were portrayed to them. As for how people today look back on these people… maybe it’s just recency bias, but people don’t seem to really emotionally “hate” historical presidents as much as you’d think they should just based off what they’ve done. Slave owners, war mongers, and genocidal maniacs. People mostly know about the big stuff but… they always seem kind of disconnected from the horror of it.
So Idk. Trump is definitely up there, but depending on exactly what we’re talking about, we could probably make a good case for a few other monsters of the past.
Everyone talks about going back in time to kill Hitler, but I am sure a lot of people have changed their answer to Trump now.
Not really sure why anyone would hate any other president more...
I guess there's like Andrew Jackson, but even then we're so far removed from that time it'd be weird to say you "hate" him.
