Im Glad to help😊

[–] AuroraSine@lemmy.ml 2 points 14 hours ago

Hi. Thanks for the comment! The confusion likely comes from the automatic translation of my German page. Sorry.

When I wrote 'We distort this graphic,' I didn't mean that I manually change it. I meant that the browser setting privacy.resistFingerprinting automatically spoofs the Canvas data for you.

So, to answer your question about 'Item 2': It refers to enabling privacy.resistFingerprinting = true in Firefox's about:config.

Once this is active, the browser automatically returns a generic, identical Canvas image to every website, preventing them from creating a unique fingerprint based on your GPU. It's a built-in feature, not a manual process.

Hope that clears it up.

Please let me know if anything is still unclear or if I made any mistakes. My English isn't great, so I'm using a translator, and I want to make sure I'm communicating correctly!

You're welcome 😊

That's cool. I'm still new to the privacy community, so I only share things I've learned. But this is really helpful.

Thank you so much for explaining this in such detail! I'm still quite new to this 'privacy world'. If there are any mistakes on my site, I'd really appreciate feedback. And I'm trying my best to understand everything, even though my English isn't great yet πŸ˜…πŸ˜…

Peace and data security be upon you all, people.

These are the Google services I added under 'My Filters'. More information on my German-language Codeberg website:

First of all, huge respect. I never thought I'd meet someone who has done all this too. I completely share your views on Google and other corporations, they abuse their power and have long crossed ethical boundaries.

I definitely have a few alternatives to share with you. I use the Proton ecosystem, including their email services, their VPN and their AI, Lumo. I stopped using ChatGPT due to Microsoft's involvement.

In uBlock Origin, under "My filters", I've blocked some of the most important Google services:

||googleapis.com^$important ||gstatic.com^$important ||google-analytics.com^$important ||googletagmanager.com^$important ||www.google.com^$important ||youtube.com^$important ||ytimg.com^$important ||googlevideo.com^$important ||googlesyndication.com^$important ||doubleclick.net^$important ||googleadservices.com^$important ||googleads.g.doubleclick.net^$important ||pagead2.googlesyndication.com^$important ||fonts.gstatic.com^$important ||apis.google.com^$important

Some websites might look visually broken, but they remain usable

For YouTube, I use Invidious instances via the Tor Browser. This gives me much more anonymity.

Also, I'm planning to buy a Fairphone 6 with /e/OS (Murena). A system switch on my current Samsung A53 isn't really possible, but the Fairphone seems built specifically for these kinds of open systems. I'm excited to see how it works.

And again: Respect! πŸ™Œ

Hey there. To be honest, I'm not really familiar with Mullvad myself. But if you're looking for a good VPN with solid privacy protection, I can recommend Proton VPN.

One small catch: you do need to sign up. But, registration is free and you don't even need to provide a phone number. Plus, they are based in Switzerland, which offers strong data protection laws outside of the 5/9/14 Eyes alliances.

I use the whole Proton ecosystem, including their email service. Even with the free version, I'm satisfied. In combination with LibreWolf, this provides strong protection. Maybe you could give it a try.

Peace and data security be upon you all.

This is my German-language site on Codeberg:

https://aurora-shine.codeberg.page/no-google-track/

It covers Google's abuse of power, Project Nimbus, and more. I also list alternative browsers and search engines, complete with pros and cons. I show you how to block Google services using uBlock Origin and strengthen your browser using the hidden about:config menu. The entire text is in German, but I hope automatic browser translation works well enough for you to understand. If you have questions, feel free to message me.
