Make him serve one day in prison for every Euro.

Oh, yeah, and confiscate his entire fortune.

So Australia is using facial scanning to verify age, allowing everyone else to remain anonymous? That's how it should be done.

Here in Florida MAGA HQ, I'm hearing calls to verify the identity of EVERYONE on the Internet, because that's the ONLY way they can keep the kids off. I even heard one MAGA state legislator say that it's no difference then carding people for buying alcohol. That's how we keep booze out of the hands of kids, so it will work to keep the Internet out of their hands, too.

They want to kill Internet anonymity, just as a report comes out that the DoJ wants to pay bounties to people who report "anti-Trump behavior."

This will go to the Supreme Court before we're finished.

The biggest loss of the Trump administration will be that the rest of the world realized they could go on without America.

Sounds like we have a plan, let's get to work. The Cochran Warp Drive isn't going to invent itself.

I don't know about that, I wasn't hearing too many calls to end the over the number of soldiers being killed. Casualties were fairly low in the 9/11 wars, compared to Vietnam, which had 55,000 deaths in about a decade.

Calls to end the war over the high body count were much, MUCH, louder in the Vietnam era, to the point that it became a political liability beyond the young protesters. That's why they finally abolished the draft, then probably would have left soon anyway, if they hadn't been chased out by the North Vietnamese.

In Afghanistan and Iraq, there seemed to be more outrage over the amount of money that was being wasted to keep a war going with no real agenda or final objective. After a while it gets hard for Republicans to complain about the National Debt when they are wasting trillions of dollars on wars over nothing.

Maybe the solution is to keep sending the code through various AI requests, until it either gets polished up, or gains sentience, and destroys the world. 50-50 chance.

This stuff ALWAYS ends up destroying the world on TV.

Seriously, everybody is complaining about the quality of AI product, but the whole point is for this stuff to keep learning and improving. At this stage, we're expecting a kindergartener to product the work of a Harvard professor. Obviously, were going to be disappointed.

But give that kindergartener time to learn and get better, and they'll end up a Harvard professor, too. AI may just need time to grow up.

And frankly, that's my biggest worry. If it can eventually start producing results that are equal or better than most humans, then the Sociopathic Oligarchs won't need worker humans around, wasting money that could be in their bank accounts.

And we know what their solution to that problem will be.

The entire media universe is being captured by Sociopathic Oligarchs, and they intend to extend the Conservative Propaganda Machine to cover everything. They will NOT be amenable to efforts toward monitoring truth in media, unless they can be the sole determiners of what is the truth.

I don't know shit about anything, but it seems to me that the AI already thought it gave you the best answer, so going back to the problem for a proper answer is probably not going to work. But I'd try it anyway, because what do you have to lose?

Unless it gets pissed off at being questioned, and destroys the world. I've seen more than few movies about that.

the war has “dramatically improved” the incomes of 20% of Russians, it is hugely socially divisive. “For the bulk of Russians, real incomes have fallen by 16% to 42%,”

Like most wars, this is why they tend to go on so long - because those that are making the most money from the war, reinvest some of it to keep the war going as long as possible. After all, they aren't paying the price in money or blood, they just collect the spoils.

Putin’s readiness to risk the lives and wellbeing of ordinary Russians is only too evident, symbolised by the cynical signing-up fees and death benefits paid to infantry volunteers from poor rural areas – whose average frontline life expectancy is 12 days.

This is what will eventually end the war - they will simply run out of draftees, or the people will finally get sick of sacrificing their sons to advance corruption, and revolt, although that could be tough with any fighting-age men off getting slaughtered less than two weeks after joining. We may see something crazy like a Mother's Rebellion, with a million mothers marching on the Kremlin and taking it over. It would be pretty tough to get Russian soldiers to fire on their own mothers.

Yeah, you're probably right, it was probably Chavez. I worked with this guy years ago, I'm not sure of the timeline off the top of my head.

The point is that the rich had it made under the old system, and had to leave when it changed.

I also had some elderly neighbors from Venezuela, and they had relatives that would have loved to visit them, but they were afraid to leave because they were afraid their houses and businesses would be confiscated by the government while they were gone. That happened to one relative when she went to visit family that was living in Paris, so she just stayed in Paris.

Rich people love dictators, as long as it's their chosen dictator.

I once worked with a guy from a wealthy family who had to escape Venezuela after Maduro took power. His family hated him, of course, because they'd become rich under the old system, but now they were in America, and he had to work a real job. He flat out told me that he felt like the best governmental system is when 5% of the population is wealthy, and 95% is dirt poor. Of course, he'd been one of the 5%.

If you think Lemmy is bad, then you were never on Reddit. Spez went full MAGA, and after the MAGA Inauguration, he permabanned all the active users who built the site. Now it's all MAGA trolls, novelty accounts, bots, Russian propaganda farmers, etc.
