TATA Advanced Systems on 24 December, 2025 has announced and declared regarding its delievery of first batch of TATA Whap to Royal Moroccan Army, out of 150.

This batch was manufactured in TASL's newly established facility in Berrechid, Morocco, which was inaugarated by Indian Defense Minister himself. This shows rising Indian-Moroccan defense partnership.

The Whap has around 50 percent of local moroccan components, which is said to enhance employment and other opportunities in Morocco for moroccan people.

The real thing to discuss is the issue with Indian Army. Despite such success of Tata Whap, Indian Army still does not operate Tata Whap in a large scale, despite being indigenous and capable. 105 units are planned, but until now, only 15 are operational and 9 are on order.

The real reason for this is said to be US Stryker. Despite the capabilities of Stryker being busted by Indian Army during testings, India mainly to improve and enhance diplomatic defense relations with US to control China, has not yet ordered neither Tata Whap nor Stryker in large numbers.

Tata Whap nonethless is better in high-altitude warfare, the problem is for how long will Indian Army keep doubting Indigenous Content like it did with ATAGS and Self-propelled Artillary (MGS) despite being the best in their respective classes and terrains.

Lets see. What do you think about it, let me know. Join "BharatDefense" to support us.

Recently on 19 December, 2025, India decomissioned its Sindhughosh Class Submarine (Kilo Class), INS Sindhughosh, which was also the lead submarine of its class. This submarine has been decomissioned after 4 decades of its roaring service.

This Submarine was commissioned in 1986 as a variant of Soviet Kilo Class. This is a proof of long Indo-Soviet cooperation, friendship and brotherhood.

As it is decommisioned now 9 remain of this same class in Indian Navy, which are set to be decommisioned soon.

This is a time to take pride but also worry, because if this remains the pace, India will find it hard to increase the number of its submarine fleet. India has achieved self-reliance in the case of destroyers, frigates and corvettes. It would not be wrong to call Indian Navy as the most efficient and effective among Indian Army, Navy and Airforce.

Recently the Cabinet Committee for Security (CCS) passed the funds for indigenously building 2 Nuclear Attack Submarines (SSN) and furthermore the funds ofr remaining 4 will also be cleared and passed. This shows that India has achieved self-reliance in the case of Nuclear Ballistic Missile Submarine (SSBN) and SSN, but disel electric submarines and Air Independednt Propulsion System (AIP) remain significant challeneges to be overcomed.

The Navy does say that all of this will be fixed after Project 75-I through which India will gain all necessaary technologies especially the AIP system to build its first own fully designed and developed, Made In India submarine.

We just need to make sure that we don’t lag behind in timeline due to delays.

What do you think, do let me know in the comments.

Recently, the Lowy Institute, which is an independent Think Tank revised it's Asia Power Index. And after revision, it increased India's Ranking to No.3 and hence giving it the title 'Major Power'.

This Index ranks countries in 4 categories:-

Superpowers- As we know the big players, they shape the region with their decisions

Major Power- It strongly influences the region with it's capability and decisions, not as much as a superpower but still, comparable

Middle Power- They strongly influence the region around them but lag behind beyond it.

Minor Powers- They have very low influence even in their own region

The revised Index gave India the title of a major power which was previously owned by Japan, Russia climbed up a rank to become 5th overtaking Australia, Malaysia Overtook Thailand and got the 11th Rank.

In Indian context, I would even say that the timing of revision is really good because it hasn't been that long sich Indo-Pak Conflict has ended, in broader terms it still continues.

This Index shows that in a direct conflict and without Chinese support India does have a upper hand.

It shows that now India cannot be ignored or beliitled by China or US.

I feel India is on the right track, what do you think, feel free to give your opinion in comments.

After agreeing to Design a 120-140kn jet engine together, now Safran and India's Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL) have joined hands to produce HAMMER precision guided Air to Surface weapon system indigenously in India.

Highly Agile Modular Munition Extended Range (HAMMER) is known throughout the world for it's precision in modular design. It has been inducted in Indian Airforce and now is going to become the cornerstone of Indigenous Platform for the IAF for its own class.

The IAF used this same weapon during Operation Sindoor and was deemed as highly effective by the IAF in destroying fortified targets. The battlefield validation makes it a safe and tactically enhancing choice.

The manufacturing of it will be done under Joint Venture Cooperation Agreement (JVCA) in which both BEL and Safran establish a Join Venture Company (JVC) with equal shareholding (50:50). We can call it the BrahMos Model for Air to Ground Munitions.

The agreement was signed by BEL chairman Manoj Jain and SED Executive and Vice President Alexandre Ziegler in the presence of other officials.

This Partnership will severely strengthen indigenous production as technology transfer to BEL will greatly benefit the country and Local Producttion.

I think it is a great initiative by the Goverenment of India and a smart approach as after this, we can also develop our own, fully indigenous, better version of HAMMER through the technology acquired from France not only that, we will also get our own specific Company to research and manufacture similar better versions of this weapon in future that too locally.
