I've been procrastinating for weeks about setting up a dev environment to help contribute to the codebase, but I didn't procrastinate at all in preordering a Core-2. My Pebble Time might be the last piece of consumer tech that I was both excited for and a satisfied customer of.
That article is light on details. Trying to push 1000kW into an 800V drive train (current state of the art) is going to generate a LOT of heat. Is BYD going to increase the drivetrain voltage in order to bring required amperage down (and heat gen with it)? A lot of car makers haven't even made it to 800 yet.
My car could charge in well under 15 minutes if any charger in my area could make it to the advertised 350kW. My high water mark so far (after 3 months) is 185kW. Usually its closer to 80.

I spent half a dozen hours this weekend trying to get Proxmox running on a 2nd hand laptop, but I can't get it to run without sounding like a jet engine. The machine did fine when I ran Mint and used it as a laptop - but even after blacklisting the dGPU and forcing all the CPU cores to powersaving, I'm still making heat like crazy.
Plan B is to put Mint back on it and install podman and see if fan noise is a problem then. But I'd rather have podman running in an unprivileged LXC.

I don't use any of meta's products so I don't know what it's like there, but youtube is getting worse by the day. I've stated to reject videos unless the creator is visible from time to time so I can put a face to the voice (or hands to the voice in the case of This Old Tony). And with video gen being released, soon I won't be able to have any trust in those videos either.
Its getting hard to tell (at least right away) whats been made by people and what's been made by AI. Just yesterday I was telling my wife, I'm sorry but I cannot fulfill this request. It goes against MaximumDerekAI's acceptable use policy.
