That's true for dogs, less so for cats. It's also immaterial since we're talking about present attitudes toward pets.

Human/animal bonding is aided because their faces retain neotenic features that remind us of babies. So many are inclined to relate to them like children.
From that article:
Accumulating behavioral and neurophysiological studies support the idea of infantile (cute) faces as highly biologically relevant stimuli rapidly and unconsciously capturing attention and eliciting positive/affectionate behaviors, including willingness to care. It has been hypothesized that the presence of infantile physical and behavioral features in companion (or pet) animals (i.e., dogs and cats) might form the basis of our attraction to these species.
It has been hypothesized that both behavioral and physical infantile features present in companion animals might form the basis of our attraction to these animals and may bear some part of the responsibility for our motivational drive to pet-keeping and pet-caretaking (Archer, 1997).
Per your own link: they started as game delivery service called Control Video Corp and later became an AppleLink service called Quantum Link. They became AOL in 89 when they separated from Apple and offered internet modem pools starting in 91.
I became adept in IRC in early 90s when I was under 10 years old, before my BB provider was even a full ISP (so I couldn't even look up help on what existed of the early web). Every time I hear an adult claim its too complicated/obscure/esoteric I realize how close to the medical exam scene in Idiocracy we've gotten in a few short decades.
I think your question has been answered by other pretty well but I'll add: If you decide a password manager is overall beneficial and choose one that looks secure, don't assume it will stay that way. LastPass taught us that a couple decisions that are valid one day can turn into huge liabilities in a few years as threats escalate. You to have to periodically check in on what secops pros are saying about your manager and make sure they haven't been resting on their laurels. Security is a job we all have.
Well put.
I'd been on reddit since the Digg migration and deleted my account after the blackout, but I had been enjoying the place less and less (and was interacting less and less) for years before.
I was born at the north end of a valley, went to collage in the middle of the valley (maybe 2/3rds down), and then settled down at south end of the valley. About 100mi / 160km. Where I live now is home, my spawn point hasn't been my home in over half my life.
Though I've lived for months at a time in a few more distant cities, all in the US.
Well, its apparently borked and I didn't realize it. I've never gotten an IP ban but I also wasn't using it a ton - mostly just for when I'd search for instructions on something an a YT vid was my only option.
I mainly use Nebula for watching videos. And the handful of creators I follow who are strictly youtube, get slurped up by ytdlp via Pinchflat
No, it doesn't seem to be. That's ashame.
I host a number of alternate frontends. Alexandrite for Lemmy, Redlib for Reddit, Invidious for Youtube. And then I have the Privacy Redirect extension make any links to Reddit or Youtube go to my local.
Countdown to articles (that take themselves very seriously) about people getting really upset over the term "clanker lover"
