what community was it?

I hate investing. Shit in general is made up bullshit and is halfway between a scam and gambling, but unfortunately I live in a society and have to play these games for my own survival. Anyways a coworker I generally trust recommended I get one of these for retirement or college funding or whatever: the concept is I pay towards a life insurance policy and after some time I can leverage it for cash to do stuff with. I'm not familiar with all the details of how it works: whether it's a loan with no interest or an early use of my policy's pay out. So, I was wondering if anyone here has used one in the past or knows of these matters and can provide advice on it.

I've had my mind on a google pixel (one of the used variety) for GrapheneOS but then i heard about Fairphones and I'm not sure which is preferable or if there's any other options.

I'll look into it, thanks!

Good point. I'm not sure how old these are either, if the data is already corrupted or if they have disc rot or anything

My PC is on Pop!_OS, I'm pretty sure it has a CD drive with it too.

Thanks! I think my pc has a CD drive, I'll see about imaging the files.

yeah that's what in afraid of, if it's copywrite or DRM protected.

what about the jackdaws thing?

I keep seeing people highly recommend them, but I've always thought it wasn't very secure.

nb4 "just Google it," fuck off.

Saw a meme reminding me about primaries next year, and the top comment was about voting at primaries and for local positions. My problem is I have no idea how to find where or when these elections are taking place. I don't see them advertised or mentioned anywhere; hell, sometimes I only know an election even happened because of the news reporting after the fact, if I even hear about that. Last time I tried looking for a local election, I couldn't find any information on voting dates, locations, or times, nor any information on the people who were on the ballot. Because of that, I wasn't able to vote, despite driving around town the supposed day looking for booths in a last ditch effort.

Is there some website or something I can check for consistent, reliable, and complete information? I know these things differ by state, but a) I'd rather not give out my location, and b) I imagine I'm not the only one with this question: others could use similar resources for their states.

Maintain their digital privacy

Accidentally thwapped my phone. It now has a line of white pixels in the middle that came up some time after thwapping. Heard this can be cleared with a lighter flame to the bottom. Is this true?

there's no way this is a real comic

neither set of instructions seem to work. at this point I'm going to open a help thread on the pop os community

Idk if it's just me or if it's because my PC is ancient, but it kind of feels like pop_os is kind of shit. I'm always having some issue or complaint or another with it. My laptop runs mint and I've had very few issues, but with pop it feels like I'm fighting the OS every step of the way, from install to daily usage.

Idk, kind of a venting question but w/e

50501 comes up on /all feed every so often, with new pictures of protests and rallies and so forth, but I never see information about upcoming events on there.

So I'm getting my associates this semester, technically under compsci. Can't really do much with an associates though, and I need a job in the mean time, so I've been studying CompTIA certs (A+, NET+, and soon I'll be taking a course for Sec+).

Except, I don't really know where to go from there. Like, sure I get my associates, then these certificates, and start my bachelor's, except I'm lost in the sauce about anything after that. If I'm honest, I don't even really know what I could do or what options are available to me with a CS degree. My relevant skills so far are basically none; I mean I grew up around computers and I've installed Linux mint on my daily laptop, but it's not like I know how to do much other than surface level or just above surface level stuff. I don't even really know how to code.

I guess, I'm just kinda lost. I don't really know what to do and I'd like some answers but don't even know where to start looking for them. Does anyone have any advice?

Like, why is it so widespread, what causes it, what solutions are available, etc. I don't really know how to ask this question so I hope I'm making sense
