I don't know that I'd call it a hope personally: Any place that gets really big starts to get shitty too (see Digg, Reddit, etc.) . Federated stuff might be more resistant to the effects, but it is not completely immune.
That said, I think the Fediverse in general stands a chance to really take off with the general public, it may or may not be Lemmy that is the platform that does it.
Didn't think I'd say this, but 4chan ia right: If the UK doesn't like it, they can have their ISPs block it.
3 days unless I can rig a way to distill drinkable water and fuel the process indefinitely, then a few weeks until I starve unless I can figure out food too. Depends on how big the island is I guess: If there's enough to hunt, trap, and forage, I might actually be OK at least until I get sick or injured.
When I was WFH I worked more than I did at the office.
