When a Lemmy instance owner gets a legal request from a foreign countries government to take down content, after they’re done shitting themselves they’ll take the content down or they’ll have to implement a country wide block on that country, along with not allowing any citizens of that country to use their instance no matter where they are located.

You said a free speech absolutist would stop operating in that country. I’m asking if you think that’s what they should have done here.
X operates in Turkey by giving Turkish users access to the site. They either follow Turkish law or they don’t serve Turkish residents.
They can of course fight any legal requests by the Turkish government - and oh look! They are!

So you think the best way for a company to fight a government trying to eliminate free speech from their country is to…..checks notes…..remove their product that is used by millions from said country?
Not to take them to court to fight their attempts to stifle free speech, but to just……leave?
They weren’t there to stop them from leaving, they were there to make them leave the right way - after being identified. The protesters didn’t like this though since they didn’t want to be held accountable for their actions, which is ironic because they want everyone else to be held accountable for things that weren’t even anything to do with their actions.
