Big Tech giants such as Microsoft, Alphabet, Amazon and Meta have regularly extolled AI’s benefits,

Are you saying that you don't know what these companies use AI for?

Apps that have been disabled at a system level cannot run.

Any income you do earn depends 100% on you eating and staying alive.

No, staying alive depends on eating. You don't need a job to be able to eat - people survived for thousands of years without jobs and money.

The fact this simple fact is unable to penetrate your brain shows how much your brain has been calcified by ideology.

The irony is just delicious.

If you're censoring someone then you don't want free speech. If you're hosting a platform for discussion and you start banning people and deleting posts etc, you're being authoritarian and you are demonstrating that you don't think free speech should be allowed.

Numbers is a lot different - there are only 10 of them, so only 10 options for each one you have to remember. How many words are there in the english language?

I doubt a single person in here could even get to 30. Think about the intelligence of the average person. Remember that half of the people in the world are dumber than that. Most people can't even remember a secure 12 character password no matter how hard they try.

That is all you can respond with to my comment?

You're proving my point - you moved to a new job and you're just having the exact same issues as the last job, and the job before that.

Nope. If you use docker containers on windows or mac, they're running using an abstraction layer. Docker is the native app, but what's running inside them isn't. At best they are nearly identical in performance with negligible hit to performance, but as soon as you use things like port forwarding the performance takes a hit.

I'm having a hard time figuring out what you're even talking about tbh. Just.......gestures to everything? The only real things you mentioned are "one privacy-overreach followed by another", and "some random organic act-of-god".

Can you be more specific about what exactly you're talking about?

Pretty obvious what they’re saying - this same fear mongering happens every time something new comes along, and it’s always wrong.

You didn’t name a single thing that you’re being charged to do……

What do you do outside of a city for free that you can’t do in a city for free?

Containerisation is all the rage, but in reality it’s not needed at all for all but a tiny number of self hosters. If a native program option exists, it’s generally just easier and more performant to use that.

Docker and the like shine when you’re frequently deploying and destroying. If you’re doing that with your home server you’re doing it very wrong.

I like docker, I use it on my server, but I am more and more switching back to native apps. There’s just zero advantage to running most things in docker.
