That's not really a thing on iOS, and if they figure that out anyways then enjoy the arms race

Artists have often gotten caught in trouble with the law, many justifiably so for having done generally bad things, still artists though

Wafrn has native integration with Bluesky???

I might make a Wafrn account earlier than I planned to that sounds sick

Fascinating. The concept of AP not actually being made to encourage decentralization isn't something I had considered before, and you do have kind of a point

I don't think see why you'd need a bluesky-hosted account for that. I think it's just showing .bsky.social as placeholder since statistically, most people have their handle hosted on bluesky and a handle can look like any valid domain.

I'll test it out once I figure out how to host my own PDS nwn

Ok yea I definitely should have asked this over there, sorry about that

I recently had a discussion with a friend on Bluesky who knows more about the inner workings of the platform, and it pretty much solidified what I already thought was going on behind the scenes with ATproto, which seems to be a lot more complex than the system behind AP, however it did seem to improve on it to an extent simply by splitting up different parts of the "social media pipeline". I was curious what people here think of it

Ps: I really don't mean to proselytize about one or the other!! I think it's good that both exist. Although it does raise me the question of wether protocol diversification is good...

I've recently started reading the book by Dale Carnegie and so far, roughly a third into it, I've found it pretty good although not revolutionary. What are you folk's opinions on it?

Addendum: also any advice for making genuine connections and interact with people for someone whose social skills are not the sharpest?

This probably seems really stupid but I'm not sure what to do at this point. The entirety of my summer break has been spent working on personal projects, I was supposed to have a great time but instead I burned myself out on art, programming and more to the point I kinda dread those things I liked before. Now, I'm not a complete idiot, so I saw that I needed to cool it a bit with everything going on, and focus on myself for a little while.
It didn't work though, because all the time I spent dedicated to myself instead of my personal projects was actually spent trying to relax while thinking of all the things I could be doing for instead, so I still feel tense after my supposed breaks.

I hope this doesn't come across as pathetic...

They're probably not doing it just because, my guess is that it's to appeal to the fasci- I mean- conservative government heading the US right now. And yes, I am aware that they are probably going to restrict more stuff as time goes on if they're unimpeded. I'm just looking for a solid motive

I found myself chatting with my dad and brought up the topic. I couldn't come up with any actual advantages a federated platforms had. The main reason I use any federated platforms is because they're either not as enshittified as the alternatives or run by huge dickwads. Since it mostly fits those criteria, I'm on Bluesky too, but once that goes I'll either switch to another un-shittified platform or Mastodon.

But on its own, what advantage does a federated social media have?

I don't know, sometimes the though of "what if all my leftist ideas are false? What if trans people are just mentally ill? What if gay people are just deviants?"
I honestly really don't like it...

It's good to question your beliefs I guess, it's how you grow, but it sometimes makes me really uncomfortable. Why does this happen? Can I stop it? Should I?
