I’m shocked that I actually recognize the references in an esoteric post.

Knulli - custom firmware for certain retro video game emulation devices

Anbernic - a currently popular manufacturer of said devices

Romm - self hosted software for gathering data about and organizing game roms (hence the post here)

Syncthing wouldn’t be possible to install on the stock firmware of their device, but it is with custom firmware like Knulli.

I’m not sure what the answer is. I understand not wanting to scare people off, but what’s the point of building a lemmy community if ends up being built on low effort posts? I’m not sure what we have to lose by following the rules. Growth may be slower but I think it would make for a more interesting community.

I see your point. I guess trying to copy “askreddit” came with its own unexpected baggage. We just don’t see the chaff on reddit because that sub is so established, has automod, etc (or at least the last time I visited regularly before the APIpocalypse)

Lemmy definitely has a search function. Due to federation (and specifically how lemmy.zip has federated with lemmy.world) you can easily search from your home instance of lemmy.zip and limit your search to this community

You’re admitting to using AI to spam. Are you wanting to get banned on yet another platform?

I don’t think this is a situation of noticing or not noticing, I’m pretty sure most folks over a certain age literally cannot hear those frequencies. Then there’s the “lucky” ones of us that can still hear every little whine 🙃

It’s not just in your mind, it’s a rule in the sidebar for this community that it’s not for support 😋

Probably https://lemmy.ml/c/lemmy_support, that’s where the Lemmy devs are

I suspect that it seems like an odd thing to feel the need to specify. Most of the world caters to heterosexuals. The existence of some dating apps that target LGBTQ subgroups is unlikely to have thrown off any recommendations you would have gotten. “You want privacy and to avoid google? You need Grindr or HER”

There is no “trans movement”, you’re probably just noticing trans people for the first time. As the current president and many states make it harder, or downright dangerous for them to live their lives, you’re probably going to see trans folks either speaking out or those who used to be more open keeping their heads down out of fear for their safety

I don’t understand coding either and I’ve installed different Linux distributions before! You can do it! Are you perhaps confusing coding with running commands in the command line? Because even running commands may not be necessary for a graphical installations like the aforementioned Linux Mint, Pop OS or similar.

I will say the nice thing about picking a popular distribution like Ubuntu, Mint, or Pop! OS, is that it’s easier to find solutions to problems, because it’s more likely that someone has posted about it online and found a solution
