Not exactly daily but the shovel I use to clean out my grill ashes was my grandfather's, hand forged and used for branding iron fires, gotta be 100 years old. Then a phonograph from 1960.

I have zero problems with this on Lineage. ?? No spoofing either, just Lineage.

There are probably some of us still sitting on free ESXi hosts, but as I've gotten off mine to Proxmox ive been pretty pleased so far. Leave ESXi, it was a great way to learn but Proxmox is more better.

Here is the one big trick I learned: if using the native import tool, shutdown the source VM and delete all the snapshots! Each snapshot adds an exponential slowdown due to the crappy API. If importing windows, remove the VMWare Guest Tools first. That seems to make the import process work pretty well. Linux and FreeBSD don't seem to care but Windows sure does.

Yeah this part is truly infuriating

Oh im not defending it. Just saying we've been well-fed geese for a very long time now. It has just changed from cramming us full of the Tootsie Pop Owl and the Doublemint Twins with a chaser of Sears Christmas Catalog to a succotash of targeted ads.

He knew the throttle wire trick

I had no idea this was going on. Is it because I'm running Lineage?

No different than the decades of ad supported broadcast television.

Same - can sync snapshots from Truenas to Backblaze.

If you want to get real fancy you could stash an N40L cube server at your mom's house where she will never find it and VPN back to your local network and replicate snapshots to it

There is also a complete lack of segregation of duties with these things. The companies that install, configure, and maintain also get a cut of the income. This is really bad.

Soups. Find Cooks Illustrated Best Soups cookbook. Learn to make and can your own broth. It doesn't change everything but it changes a lot.

Living next to a few short-term rentals, it is so extremely creepy to have various large groups of people in and out, staring at you and your stuff, blocking the street with Ubers and scooters, and you only think it's quiet because you're the house making all the noise.

It sucks to make a neighborhood a nice place to live only to have all that leeched for profit selling to bachelorette parties full of girls going WOOO at 1 AM.

I know its a major security tool widely used but it bugs me it's not open sourced
