I feel as if Lemmings can be very politically polarizing. Definitely less so now than a few years ago, but I still see it from time to time. How does that effect the macro-community's general perception of the military? I looked and only found one community on any instance, and it was fairly small and inactive.

Wow, 6 years? You've even got me beat. Wear that as a badge of honor! Like I said in another comment, bigger number better, lol

I agree. That's part of why I made my own. I was originally a part of feddit.de and moved to feddit.org when they shut down. I was already hesitant because I could tell they were growing, but I didn't expect them to as much as they did, lol

Honestly, any extremist slop

Oof, hate that. The freedom of speech does NOT include the freedom to oppress

Oh no way! I totally understand that :) That's still nice to hear

Edit: I just saw how old your account was. I'm surprised you even considered it! I was hesitant on making my own instance because I had a pretty dang old account on feddit.org and bigger number better, lol

Content? Politics? Community? A cool integration you're looking for? Maybe even a cool domain name? I'm not looking for tips as an instance owner, lol; I'm just curious.

Edit: I've gotten a lot of push factors, what about pull factors?

I love little taxonomy facts like this! One of my favorites is that Carl Linnaeus (the father of modern taxonomy) occasionally named animals to take jabs at scientific rivals.

His main target was a critic named Johann Siegesbeck. To get back at him, Linnaeus named a notoriously weedy, small-flowered, unpleasant-smelling plant Siegesbeckia orientalis.

I've always been conflicted on LTS. As a Linux hobbyist, I've used bleeding-edge software for years and had very few breaks and issues, but as someone who also maintains their own instance, the added level of reassurance is nice. Do I think my stuff will break? No, thats why I use Arch/Artix on my laptop. Am I still anxious about it? Yes, that's why I use Debian for my servers

Genuine question from a hobbyist to professionals: what's wrong with existing Linux alternatives? I've done graphic design for years with things like Pixlr, Gimp, Blender, and Krita. Sure, the workflow takes some getting used to, but I've been able to achieve everything I've wanted by getting a little creative with the toolset
