Although the idea is nice, both are needed.

It's important to have open-source alternatives, but you're not going to serve websites at the Amazon or Youtube scale by self-hosting OSS. Hyperscaler and their datacentres are also needed.

There are actual AAA full games, Feral Games is releasing a lot of their games on Mobile now (Android as example), like Alien: Isolation, XCOM 2, GRID Legends, Several Total War Entries and Tropico.

Hitman Absolution launches now in October 16th.

There are also some from other devs, like Focus' Mudrunner and Square Enix's Life Is Strange.

If you want awesome casual ones, there's Balatro, Isle of Arrows, Keep on Mining (non-slop incremental), Dungeon Clawler, Siege Up! and All Aboard! of the top of my head.

If OP doesn't care about proprietary, DaVinci Resolve is the best on the list IMO.

Although it's easy to "create" pseudo-science with EEG data, the presence of EEG by itself does not mean straight pseudo-science. It can be used correctly, and it's actively used in the medical field to detect brain diseases, for example.

*That said, I'm not saying the study here is to be believed, I have not read it, just commenting on EEG
