you have open registrations without any form of validation while also being federated. this puts a burden on all other fediverse instances by allowing your instance to be abused by spammers. if you don't have enough moderation on instance level you really shouldn't be running an instance without any checks for registrations.

stuff like automod is stricter controls, not necessarily just requiring applications, but having open registrations without anything is not sustainable.
