MAM is great though, compared to a lot of other private trackers, it's easy to maintain a good ratio and the community is super nice and helpful

Probably shouldn't use your ISP's DNS anyway.
GPS does not need the internet to operate (atleast it can send requests for positioning data). Although location accuracy can be improved if you combine things like triangulation w/ cellular towers and wifi connections.
You can run some distros from a 2gb USB stick. Not sure what these guys are talking about th.
