Ukrainian sea drones on Wednesday hit and disabled a tanker involved in trading Russian oil as it sailed through Ukraine’s exclusive economic zone in the Black Sea to the Russian port of Novorossiysk, a Ukrainian official said. The attack is the third sea drone strike in two weeks on vessels part of Russia’s “shadow fleet” of unregulated and often western-sanctioned ships helping Moscow export oil to fund the war.

The Dashan tanker was sailing at maximum speed with its transponders off when powerful explosions hit its stern, inflicting critical damage, the official at the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) said. The strike on the Dashan, which is under EU and British sanctions and is sailing without a known flag registry, was also confirmed by three maritime security sources. “The SBU continues to take active measures to reduce petrodollar revenues to the Russian budget,” said the official.

Australia is failing more than 130,000 people with significant psychosocial disability – despite spending billions every year on the NDIS.

This gap is fuelling a growing problem. People without adequate support are more likely to be homeless, admitted to hospital, or have their needs escalate – adding pressure to systems already under strain.

The gap can be closed without spending any more public money – by redirecting some NDIS funds to ensure Australians can get help whether they are in the scheme or not, and no matter where they live.

The United Nations at the time noted that the attacks “constitute war crimes of murder, attacking civilians, and launching indiscriminate attacks, in addition to violating the right to life” adding that, “Around 500 people suffered severe eye injuries, including a diplomat. Others suffered grave injuries to their faces, hands and bodies” and that “It is also a war crime to commit violence intended to spread terror among civilians, including to intimidate or deter them from supporting an adversary, A climate of fear now pervades everyday life in Lebanon”.

At the time, when asked about the attacks, former CIA director Leon Panetta said, “I don’t think there’s any question that it’s a form of terrorism”.

Now, a new book quietly reveals that Israel carried out the terrorist attack with the help of the AI surveillance firm Palantir, led by Alex Karp and Peter Thiel.

The donor and his family were healthy, and not aware of any problem. He also did not inherit the mutation, but developed it spontaneously in some cells before he was born. [...] ‘Each sperm in an ejaculate is slightly different so screening these is also not simple – though if a child is born with a condition the screening sperm approach can be used to tell if a risk like this exists.

It marks the first time the U.S. criticized China for aiming radars at Japanese military aircraft as the diplomatic spat between Beijing and Tokyo shows no sign of easing.

The United States has for the first time criticized China for aiming radars at Japanese military aircraft during a training exercise last week, about which the Asian neighbors have given differing accounts amid escalating tensions.

The run-in near Japan's Okinawa islands comes after Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi set off a dispute with Beijing last month with her remarks on how Tokyo might react to a hypothetical Chinese attack on Taiwan.

China claims democratically governed Taiwan and has not ruled out using force to take control of the island, which sits just over 62 miles from Japanese territory and is surrounded by sea lanes on which Tokyo relies.

"China's actions are not conducive to regional peace and stability," a State Department spokesperson said late Tuesday, referring to the radar incident.

In late November, the United Nations Security Council endorsed the “Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict” which includes President Trump’s 20-point framework.

Washington and Jerusalem celebrated it as a breakthrough. In reality, it represents one of the most dangerous recent efforts to make international law irrelevant, installing a neo-colonial trusteeship run by those who have armed, funded and politically shielded Israel for decades.

Despite media hype, the October “ceasefire” was never a true ceasefire at all. Israel has since bombed homes and schools, killing more than 300 Palestinians, injuring hundreds more and demolishing civilian infrastructure. It is still blocking desperately needed humanitarian aid.

I was looking into the new, probably AI, data center being built in town and noticed it's built by a private equity backed firm. The data center was rejected by the city and has to operate with a standard cooperate building water supply. They said are switching to air cooling only and reducing the compute power to keep power usage the same. This has caused amazon, the alleged operator, to back out. So they are building a giant reduced capacity data center with no operator and apparently still think that's a good idea. My understanding of the private equity bubble is that the firms can hide "under performing" assets because it's all private. From what I read, possibly 3.2 Trillion dollars of it. I feel like this new data center is going on the "under performing" pile.
