While international recognition of a Palestinian state has gathered momentum, the situation on the ground is moving in the opposite direction. Israel’s government has advanced new annexation legislation, settlement growth is accelerating, and daily life for Palestinians is becoming more restricted and precarious.

In a new series, reporter Matthew Cassel travels through the West Bank to document what daily life looks like under deepening occupation. Starting in Hebron and moving north to Ramallah, villages outside the city, and finally Nablus, he meets people across generations to ask; what does the idea of a ‘Palestinian state’ mean today?

Agreements with India and Indonesia would be test cases under a new “accelerated procedure” floated by the European Commission.

The European Commission wants to cut almost a year off the time it takes to approve trade deals by giving the English version of agreements a head start, allowing political approval to move ahead before translations into the EU’s two dozen languages are finalized.

The EU is under pressure to raise its trade game as the U.S. and China close faster deals, and President Donald Trump wields tariffs to exert geopolitical leverage. But, as the bloc acts to diversify its trading relationships, the process of checking and translating deals can hold up its own agreements for as long as two years.

The EU executive outlined a draft plan to capitals earlier this month that would telescope the time for agreements to enter into force by streamlining their translation, according to an internal presentation seen by POLITICO.

Dozens of world leaders head to Washington for what White House says will largely be a fundraiser on Thursday

Dozens of world leaders and national delegations will meet in Washington DC tomorrow for the inaugural meeting of Donald Trump’s Board of Peace, as major European allies declined to join the group and criticised the organisation’s murky funding and political mandate.

The White House has indicated that tomorrow’s summit for his new ad hoc council at the renamed Donald J Trump Institute of Peace will heavily function as a fundraising round, with Trump announcing on social media that countries have pledged more than $5bn toward rebuilding Gaza, which has been devastated in the war with Israel and remains in a humanitarian crisis.

. . .

But, despite Trump’s characteristic bombast, the Board of Peace summit will open to heavy scepticism, with expectations limited both for the meeting tomorrow in Washington and in the Middle East, where the 100-day peace and recovery plan announced by Jared Kushner in Davos has stalled and aid into Gaza remains at a trickle.

Separately, Israel's public broadcaster KAN said that the Security Cabinet meeting scheduled for Thursday to discuss developments in Iran has been rescheduled for Sunday, without providing any additional details.

Trump is clearly going to wait until the Winter Olympics end on the 22nd to launch the Iran War, I don't know why everyone is freaking out it would be bad television to step on the Winter Olympics with starting the war too soon, well that is unless the US isn't allowed to get enough Gold Medals... but then that will be the rest of the world's fault won't it?

Politico is owned by the german Axel Springer SE, a publisher that also owns Bild, Fakt (polish) and Welt among others.

The publisher and its news outlets (with the aforementioned Bild, Fakt and Welt most prominent) is a main driver for a news coverage and reporting that is jointly responsible for the rise of the far right in Germany and Europe.

Politico itself has published so-called Native Ads, a form of advertisng that is designed like op-ed articles and other opinion pieces in a way that is hard to differeentiate from regular, non-sponsored content, mostly for fossile fuel companies but also healt insurance, finance and weapons industries. (Source 1, Source 2).

That sums up to a news outlet that should not be shared, not be trusted and hence, not be posted here. It was not an issue mostly since this outlet wasn't posted here often , but recently, Politico articles are getting posted very frequently again, so I suggest the ban now.

Edit: lost a word

Edit 2: it should be noted that there is another publisher with a similar name (Springer Nature with several subsidiaries), but that company os not affiliated with Axel Springer SE and has different issues.

This time in Poland. The USA is firmly on the path of Fascism on so many levels, and it’s all to feed USA MAGA with false information. The winner of all bottom-of-the-barrel ambassadors is, of course, Pete Hoekstra, who has managed to insult both his Canadian ánd Dutch guest countries. https://www.thedailyscrumnews.com/recall-u-s-ambassador-pete-hoekstra-its-time-for-him-to-leave-canada/

In its most recent filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Palantir says that increased regulation of immigration may impact the company’s ability to hire the talent it needs. At the same time, Palantir provides the technological infrastructure for the Trump administration’s mass deportation mission.

As 404 Media has shown, Palantir considers Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) a “mature” partner, and is working on a tool called ELITE that ICE uses to find neighborhoods to raid.

“Further, if we are not able to recruit, hire, or retain the talent we need because of increased regulation of immigration or work visas, including limitations placed on the number of visas granted, changes to application processes or fees, limitations on the type of work performed or location in which the work can be performed, and new or higher minimum salary requirements, it could be more difficult to staff our personnel on customer engagements and could increase our costs,” Palantir’s latest 10-K, filed on Tuesday, reads. A 10-K is an annual report public companies are required to produce.

“Additionally, laws and regulations, such as restrictive immigration laws, may limit our ability to recruit outside of the United States. We seek to retain and motivate existing personnel through our compensation practices, company culture, and career development opportunities. If we fail to attract new personnel or to retain our current personnel, our business and operations could be harmed,” the filing continues.

The Israeli government installed security equipment and controlled access to a Manhattan apartment building managed by convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, according to a set of emails recently released by the Department of Justice. The equipment was installed starting in early 2016 at 301 E. 66th Street—the residence where former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak frequently stayed for stretches at a time.

Rafi Shlomo, then-director of protective service at the Israeli mission to the United Nations in New York and head of Barak’s security, corresponded with Epstein employees to arrange meetings to discuss security and coordinate installation of specialized surveillance equipment at the 66th Street residence. Shlomo personally controlled access to the apartment for guests and even conducted background checks on cleaners and Epstein’s employees.
