COPENHAGEN, Denmark (AP) — Denmark’s government on Friday announced a political agreement to ban access to social media for anyone aged under 15.

The move, led by the Ministry of Digitalization, would set the age limit for access to social media but give some parents — after a specific assessment — the right to give consent to let their children access social media from age 13.

Such a measure would be among the most sweeping steps yet by a European government to address concerns about the use of social media among teens and younger children.

On Wednesday, a drone flew above Gilze-Rijen airbase for several minutes. Air traffic controllers spotted the drone from the tower. The marechaussee arrived at the scene but found no further traces of the drone.

A spokesman for the marechaussee confirms the drone’s observation to NU.nl, following previous coverage of the Volkskrant. Air traffic control made a report of "potential espionage," after which the military arrived at the scene.

It is not known who was driving the drone and where it came from. When the marechaussee arrived, the drone was already gone. The incident happened at the beginning of the evening.

"The drone has been flying above the base for a few minutes. Then the air traffic controllers kept sight of it," the spokesman says. "We tried to figure out the route, but that didn't lead to results in the end."

Last week, several drones were also seen above Belgian air bases and airports, including Zaventem near Brussels. The Belgian defence minister has expressed suspicions of spying from Russia.

The military says it has no concrete indications that it is also about espionage in the Netherlands. The spokesman said it saw few similarities with Belgium. "It doesn't look like the scenes mentioned there, like flying in formation or the size of the drone."

Gilze-Rijen is a helicopter base of the Air Force. There are Apache combat helicopters, and Chinooks and Cougars, which are both transport helicopters.

The shutdown will halt about $8 billion a month in federal food assistance. Walmart captures 24% of all SNAP shopper spending, according to Numerator’s 2025 SNAP Evolution report—triple Kroger’s share and far ahead of Costco, Amazon and Sam’s Club.

Walmart was the first retailer to accept SNAP online in all 50 states in 2023 and launched the Walmart+ Assist program, which offers half-price memberships for those receiving aid.

“If SNAP payments stop, spending by the lowest income groups will fall,” said Neil Saunders, managing director of data and analytics firm GlobalData. “Walmart gets a plurality of the spending, so it will be hit the hardest.”

This was somewhat epiphanic for me.

I already recognized companies such as Walmart were subsidizing pay through social programs such as SNAP and essential funneling/laundering tax payer money to their executives.

This headline made me further realize they’re not only making taxpayers subsidize wages, they’ve also effectively turned the USD into a form of company scrip. While that scrip can be spent at some other locations I bet a large percent of funneled right back to e.g. Walmart itself. If you already work at Walmart it makes spending your SNAP benefit there easier.

Russia has capacity for a limited attack against NATO territory at any time but a decision to act would depend on the Western allies' posture, a top German military official warned.

"If you look at Russia's current capabilities and combat power, Russia could kick off a small-scale attack against NATO territory as early as tomorrow," Lieutenant General Alexander Sollfrank told Reuters in an interview.

"Small, quick, regionally limited, nothing big - Russia is too tied down in Ukraine for that."

Heavy drinking is tied to earlier and more severe brain bleeds, a new study found. The paper, published Wednesday in the journal Neurology, examined the link between alcohol and intracerebral hemorrhages

the deadliest, most disabling type of stroke.

The researchers found that so-called heavy drinkers

people who had three or more drinks per day

developed a stroke on average 11 years earlier than those who had fewer than three drinks per day. They also had larger brain bleeds that were more difficult to manage.

This data cannot prove that alcohol led to earlier, more severe brain bleeds. But it aligns with a wide body of research linking heavy alcohol use to damaged blood vessels and cardiovascular disease.

About 85 percent of strokes are caused by blockages in the brain

usually from blood clots

and research has largely focused on the relationship between alcohol and these types of strokes, called ischemic strokes. Intracerebral hemorrhages, on the other hand, are caused by a blood vessel bursting and bleeding into the brain.

Serbian lawmakers on Friday passed a special law clearing the way for a proposed real estate project that would be financed by an investment company linked to Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner despite widespread public opposition and legal hurdles.

After days of a heated debate and street protests by opponents of the plan to revamp of a landmark former Yugoslav military complex in central Belgrade that was partially destroyed in a NATO bombing campaign in 1999, the bill was approved with a 130-40 vote in the 250-member parliament.

Serbia’s government last year stripped the complex of its protected status and signed a 99-year-lease agreement with Kushner-linked U.S.-based Affinity Global Development. But the project stalled after Serbia’s organized crime prosecutors launched an investigation into whether documents used to remove the protection status were forged.

The groping of Mexico President Claudia Sheinbaum on a downtown street shone a bright light on the gender violence women face every day, but the country's political polarization has tarnished what under other circumstances would seem a natural moment for national solidarity, analysts say.

The president has tried to use the assault to send a clear message that such behavior is not acceptable. She has explained why she decided to press charges against the drunk man; she used her bully pulpit to pressure the remaining states that don't have sexual harassment on the books as a crime; and she talked about the need to make it easier for women to report such crimes.

But almost immediately political opponents accused her of using the incident to distract from another burning issue in Mexico: political violence. The previous weekend, a popular mayor in the western state of Michoacan was gunned down in public during Day of the Dead festivities. Protests against the violence were happening in several cities in the state and Sheinbaum was under pressure to offer new solutions for the state's persistent violence.

Half of the respondents said they feel unsafe in public places, on the streets and on public transportation. Eight years ago, that figure was only half as high.

The greatest fears relate to theft and verbal attacks in public. Less common are concerns about becoming a victim of physical or sexual assault or a terrorist attack.

I like to leave reviews for places I stay and eat. But, I hate to keep feeding the Google machine. Yelp seems to be mostly a US thing, and I’m not a power Trip Advisor user (although I have nothing against them).

Where do you read/leave reviews the most?

As director of the New River Health Association Black Lung Clinic, Emery’s seen guys as young as 45 getting double lung transplants as disease rates soar among miners forced to dig through more rock filled with deadly silica to reach the remaining coal — far worse than the dust their grandfathers inhaled.

A rule approved last year by the U.S. Mine Safety and Health Administration would cut the federal limit for allowable respirable crystalline silica dust exposure by half to help protect miners of all types nationwide from the current driving force of black lung and other illnesses.

But, now, it’s in jeopardy amid other Trump administration cutbacks and proposals targeting workers’ health and safety guardrails: Stuck in a politically charged environment that promotes industry, with lawmakers arguing to change it and the federal agency that wrote the rule not pushing to enforce it. Some angry retired miners with black lung are fighting back, demanding that Donald Trump honor promises he made to the people who voted him in.

The Dutch government is ready to shelve the ministerial order that gave it the power to block or change key corporate decisions at Nexperia, if China allows exports of its critical chips again, according to people familiar with the matter.

“Given the constructive nature of our talks with the Chinese authorities, the Netherlands trusts that the supply of chips from China to Europe and the rest of the world will reach Nexperia’s customers over the coming days,” Dutch Economic Affairs Minister Vincent Karremans said in the statement.

If you ever tried the infamous "Update and shut down" option in any Windows build, it often leads to a reboot instead to an actual shutdown. Now, Microsoft has finally fixed this issue starting with Windows 11 25H2 Build 26200.7019 (or 26100.7019 on 24H2). According to the Windows Latest, Microsoft has shipped this broken functionality way back with Windows 10, and has never fixed it since. However, the Windows teams working behind the update have finally managed to ship a working solution with a note stating in Windows 11 experiences that the new build: "Addressed underlying issue which can cause "Update and shutdown" to not actually shut down your PC after updating."
