Ye Power Trippin' Bastards

1666 readers
116 users here now

This is a community in the spirit of "Am I The Asshole" where people can post their own bans from lemmy or reddit or whatever and get some feedback from others whether the ban was justified or not.

Sometimes one just wants to be able to challenge the arguments some mod made and this could be the place for that.

Posting Guidelines

All posts should follow this basic structure:

  1. Which mods/admins were being Power Tripping Bastards?
  2. What sanction did they impose (e.g. community ban, instance ban, removed comment)?
  3. Provide a screenshot of the relevant modlog entry (don’t de-obfuscate mod names).
  4. Provide a screenshot and explanation of the cause of the sanction (e.g. the post/comment that was removed, or got you banned).
  5. Explain why you think its unfair and how you would like the situation to be remedied.

Rules

Expect to receive feedback about your posts, they might even be negative.

Make sure you follow this instance's code of conduct. In other words we won't allow bellyaching about being sanctioned for hate speech or bigotry.

YPTB matrix channel: For real-time discussions about bastards or to appeal mod actions in YPTB itself.

MODERATORS

Just recently, I got banned from Lemmy.ml because they thought I was "trolling" using an LLM. Let me clarify to any Lemmy.ml mods reading this that I'm not using an LLM for my comments. I am a human being who actually has autism which is why I type like this.

Sometimes I post so much so fast that I get a "too many requests" error before I get to post the next comment - in these cases, that's my cue to cool down for a bit, and then post my comments from my "queue" (I leave the comments unposted until I post them) after a certain period of time.

I just submitted a message like this on the Lemmy Matrix chat (through Cinny - pretty good software) as my ban appeal- I then got a reply saying "mods DON'T hang out here - just message them from the sidebar" which I will do after posting this.

Its .ml i wouldn't worry about it too much, sure there are many decent people there, but there are some people there with shit takes

Is it because it's a primarily Marxist-Leninist hub? - and this is coming from someone who supports socialism, and is looking to study a bit more on that

[–] rumschlumpel@feddit.org 1 points 6 days ago (1 children)

It's because the mods and admins are tankies. Though AFAIK that's a very common issue with marxist-leninists.

[–] DylanMc6@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago)

What about the Marxist-Leninists are aren't really "tankies" and DOESN'T support how Stalin handled the USSR and his power as the General Secretary of the CPSU (too much bureaucracy and all)?

[–] T00l_shed@lemmy.world 12 points 1 week ago (1 children)

From what I've experienced is that anything that is critical of russia/china is against the narrative. I'm a socialist too, but because I am critical of russia/china, I get blocked and banned when I make comments. I am also critical of the USA, Canada, europe, etc but i still get called a shit lib lol.

I support the ideas of socialism, but I am critical of the more bureaucratic elements of forms such as Marxism-Leninism (a synthesis of Marx and Lenin's ideas) and such. I am NOT against already-existing-socialist countries - that said, if the DPRK and China are any indication, a socialist country can have multiple parties, as long as they're like-minded and they work together in one unified "vanguard coalition".

I do think that these parties should compete like in bourgeois liberal systems though.

Well you're in the right instance for thaf. This is your chance to check out anarchism 😅

[–] unfreeradical@slrpnk.net 4 points 1 week ago

It seems that the kind of discussion OP wants would be well aligned with the spirit of !actualsocialism101@lemmy.dbzer0.com. However, the community unfortunately seems to be inactive.

[–] DylanMc6@lemmy.dbzer0.com -1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

What about syndicalism, Marxism-De Leonism or council communism?

I'm just wondering if you're open to these forms of Marxism here in this Lemmy instance - from what I understand, Hexbear and Lemmy.ml are strictly Marxist-Leninist hub, and you're an anarchist.

[–] Pandantic@midwest.social 2 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Hexbear is a leftist unity sub, not strictly ML.

[–] DylanMc6@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 6 days ago (1 children)

So it's open to left-libertarians?

[–] eugenevdebs@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Nope. Just ask anyone here who's said Stalin wasn't perfect.

[–] DylanMc6@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 6 days ago (1 children)

I just noticed your username is "Eugene V. Debs' Ghost" - do you prefer Daniel De Leon and Eugene V. Debs?

[–] eugenevdebs@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 6 days ago (1 children)

I only picked the dudes name because he is a old enough dead socialist where it's funny that I say things as his ghost. I have moderate respect for him but I don't care too much for him. Or anyone who's dead.

By the way i think your bit of where anytime a .ml person is weird to you, you just reply the same thing is actually funny. And the fact it angers them when they repeat "read theory" as a mantra is funnier.

[–] DylanMc6@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Well I am trying to study socialist/communist theory - Cowbee's method of taking each paragraph and boiling them into simple terms (or to your own words) is pretty good for a beginner, but does that technically count as studying theory?

[–] eugenevdebs@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Probably, I don't care that much. Cowbee is the only major player from .ml I am able to enjoy, because he doesn't belittle people.

But I don't care about theory, I care about people doing things. Most of the diehard AuthComs would be gulaged for not obeying the new guy in charge, while pretending they are setting up that world as they shitpost online and just remain indoors.

[–] DylanMc6@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 6 days ago (2 children)

Well I really like Cowbee's method. Oh and are you more of a council communist?

[–] eugenevdebs@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 6 days ago (1 children)

I'm vaguely anarchist, I respect Marx's original works. I just don't want a state to decide things in the daily lives of people.

[–] DylanMc6@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

So you're more of an Orthodox Marxist?

[–] Cowbee@lemmy.ml -3 points 5 days ago (1 children)

One thing I want to mention, it isn't "my" method, just the way I do things. I lift heavily from Nadezhda Krupskaya's General Rules for Independent Study.

[–] DylanMc6@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 5 days ago (1 children)

So what's your actual study method?

[–] Cowbee@lemmy.ml -4 points 5 days ago

I didn't invent any, I told you what I do.

[–] db0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 8 points 1 week ago

This instance is not that strict with our members, so long as you follow our rules.
