Ye Power Trippin' Bastards

1666 readers
130 users here now

This is a community in the spirit of "Am I The Asshole" where people can post their own bans from lemmy or reddit or whatever and get some feedback from others whether the ban was justified or not.

Sometimes one just wants to be able to challenge the arguments some mod made and this could be the place for that.

Posting Guidelines

All posts should follow this basic structure:

  1. Which mods/admins were being Power Tripping Bastards?
  2. What sanction did they impose (e.g. community ban, instance ban, removed comment)?
  3. Provide a screenshot of the relevant modlog entry (don’t de-obfuscate mod names).
  4. Provide a screenshot and explanation of the cause of the sanction (e.g. the post/comment that was removed, or got you banned).
  5. Explain why you think its unfair and how you would like the situation to be remedied.

Rules

Expect to receive feedback about your posts, they might even be negative.

Make sure you follow this instance's code of conduct. In other words we won't allow bellyaching about being sanctioned for hate speech or bigotry.

YPTB matrix channel: For real-time discussions about bastards or to appeal mod actions in YPTB itself.

Aaaaaaand I just got banned from NOT one, NOT two, NOT three, but four Lemmy.ml communities. Is this a sign I have to start studying and reading up on theory?

Also, I know some Lemmy.ml mods is gonna say that "you wouldn't get banned from these communities had you read your theory!" like they're teachers demanding students to eat their meat before they can have their pudding (because how can you have your pudding when you don't eat your meat?)

Now I support the idea of socialism (I'm more of a market socialist), and I'm NOT against the idea of actually existing socialist countries (ie: China, Cuba, Vietnam, Laos and the DPRK). That said, I think Lemmy.ml should be more open to different forms of socialism, as well as the Marxist Leninists who DOESN'T have to support Stalin (and his bureaucratic and polarizing practices while General Secretary of the CPSU) to support ML.

I am very bummed that I CAN'T respond in these communities - that said, I can subscribe to different versions of these communities that happened to be in different Lemmy instances (other than Lemmy.ml):

Someone should make another Lemmy support community here in this instance

No, that looks like an admin ban from the instance. You're banned from lemmy.ml entirely.

When you get instance banned, the modlog will simply show bans from communities you've posted in from that instance. If you try to post to a lemmy.ml community now, it won't federate out. It's actually a really broken system that can cause problems.

Wait, really? Dang it.

Is me being instance-banned from Lemmy.ml a sign that I have to study and read up on theory a bit more? Is there any way I can get unbanned from the instance?

No, is sign that you are a sane person. You don't want to be considered good by them, it means you are a tankie.

Well, although I find Marxism-Leninism to be interesting, I don't like how Stalin handled the USSR (especially the Communist Party, how it became bureaucratic when it should've been decentralized had Lenin appointed someone else to do his job after his death).

[–] BarbecueCowboy@lemmy.dbzer0.com 15 points 2 days ago (1 children)

That position is against the rules of lemmy.ml and is a bannable offense.

[–] DylanMc6@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Yeah - you can be a Marxist-Leninist AND not support Stalin's actions.

Brother, you're better off creating your own community or participating in other socialist oriented communities on the fediverse. I'm also a Marxist-Leninist but those guys don't accurately use theory and distort for all their petty agenda

They're more Marxist-Stalinists that anything else

Edit: See !meanwhileongrad@sh.itjust.works for more on how bad that instance and it's two siblings are

I'm actually non-binary, and I prefer gender-neutral and feminine terms. Seriously!

The millions of deaths are what took the shine off ol' Joe for me. Call me old-fashioned.

[–] DylanMc6@lemmy.dbzer0.com -1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Are you more of a council communist?

[–] ivanafterall@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I'm communist-curious, at best.
