But they're not going after any of that, they're going after the whole American society that creates that.
Try looking through a non internal American politics view, I know it's really hard for an American to put themselves in someone else's shoes, but truly it's a criticism of your entire system.
Mocking drug addicts isn't going after all of American society. Do you think Charlie Kirk was going after all of American society when he did the same thing?
Its like trying to mock Europeans by doing racism against Roma people. Its not criticizing all of European society, you're literally doing the same shit our conservatives do.
When you mock the victims of a school shooting, you're not criticizing all of American society or system that creates school shooters, you're just being a reactionary piece of shit, and we have enough of those.
But pretending to be a kid hiding from school shooters would also be hilarious. And it sure does criticise a LOT of American society.
That's exactly the difference, because that would be focusing on the system victimizing the children, rather than mocking the children themselves for getting shot.
Hell you could genuinely do the children getting shot as a satire of conservatives' lack of response to school shootings, but that would be mocking conservatives, not the victims.
Its not that any group is off limits, its the actual message can't just be "haha bad"

You're just choosing arbitrarily what to take offense at. America's self inflicted opiate problem is just as ridiculous as it's self inflicted school shooting problem. Bringing it back to American political parties is missing the entire point. It's America, not the Republicans threatening world order. It's America's obsession with capitalism that prevents them from fixing their problems.
No, the consistency is that its never ok to punch down.

Well yeah, if a Palestinian talks about antisemitism, I will correct them too (probably by directing them to hamas current charter, which differentiates judaism and zionism). Telling someone they have a bad take doesn't mean you don't support their struggle, hence the critical part of critical support.
They're mocking the society that is so sick and disgusting that it allows for people to become addicted to and ruined by drugs, en masse.
They're doing it in a way that offends your moral sensibilities, because you are seeing individual victimized people who belong to a different group than yourself.
They're seeing a society that is fundamentally broken and disgusting, getting worse, not doing anything to collectively better itself, of which you are just as much a member of that group as the fent head is.
Yeah, we do actually need a bit of 'fuck your feelings'.
We need to actually fix things, not just complain and be offended on behalf of others whom we are not actually helping with our moral indignation alone.
We need to do better.
The world has run out of patience for all forms of our self-righteous bullshit.
We already has another recent post get pretty big explaining that... nobody who isn't American cares about American's apologies, their perfect moral stances that... result in absofuckinglutely no change whatsoever, other than Americans having scripts by which they justify their self-centered ness and be insufferable on the internet.
Everyone is at their wits end with all of us, the way that we have been at our wits end with our own political/ideological opponents for a decade now.
Don't expect sympathy or pity.
We've burned through all the goodwill, none remains.
You can say that isn't fair, to which the rest of the world would likely laugh, uproariously.
