He has spoken out about his psychopathic government and their followers on an international platform to world media. His speaking out puts his and his family at risk. His employer / firm could let him go and he may struggle to find work. He has jeopordised his future selection for US teams, potentially ending his sporting career. This is significant.

He is sticking his neck out for what he believes in and it will likely get cut. I'm sure Fox News. NY Post and Daily Mail will jump all over this to make him out to be some traitor.

They barely pat the athletes anyways, but yes its still significant.
