X people in frog costumes with dildos + Y people with guns is more effective than just Y people with guns. Probably much more effective, honestly, because it makes it harder to publicize it as just a violent mob.
There've been quite a few photos circulated of people with guns intermingled into the protests that have happened. It's much more effective when it's like, 1 in 100 vs. 100 in 100, though, in my opinion. It gets the point across. Personally, I'd prefer no guns on either side, but if we can't have that, this is the next best option.
