Ye Power Trippin' Bastards

1788 readers
182 users here now

This is a community in the spirit of "Am I The Asshole" where people can post their own bans from lemmy or reddit or whatever and get some feedback from others whether the ban was justified or not.

Sometimes one just wants to be able to challenge the arguments some mod made and this could be the place for that.

Posting Guidelines

All posts should follow this basic structure:

  1. Which mods/admins were being Power Tripping Bastards?
  2. What sanction did they impose (e.g. community ban, instance ban, removed comment)?
  3. Provide a screenshot of the relevant modlog entry (don’t de-obfuscate mod names).
  4. Provide a screenshot and explanation of the cause of the sanction (e.g. the post/comment that was removed, or got you banned).
  5. Explain why you think its unfair and how you would like the situation to be remedied.

Rules

Expect to receive feedback about your posts, they might even be negative.

Make sure you follow this instance's code of conduct. In other words we won't allow bellyaching about being sanctioned for hate speech or bigotry.

YPTB matrix channel: For real-time discussions about bastards or to appeal mod actions in YPTB itself.

Over the past few days, @MrKaplan@lemmy.world/@MrKaplan@piefed.world has banned multiple users, blocked entire comms, and now defederated from Anarchist.Nexus over their anti-Zionist stance.

This extreme overreaction and general power trippin' bastard behavior stems from Lemmy.world's history of pro-Zionist views. And now MrKaplan is seeking out the flimsiest pretext to to enact his own personal vendetta.

Free Palestine, Death to Israel, Death to Zionism.

Lemmy.world is a ZioNazi instance. Avoid it like the plague.

i disagree. the fediverse is a vote with your feet situation from my observations of it the past 10 years. with lemmy.world, we have

  • asked nicely, and seen them do nothing
  • asked rudely, and seen them perform the theatrics of something all while doing nothing
  • created easy paths for people to follow away from the most influential lemmy.world communities, and still the problem persists
  • and now we're here. it seems like lemmy.world's administrators will never change. i treat their users like they're capable of change, just not necessarily aware, however, lemmy.world's size has created in their admin team's minds an attitude that they know best for the fediverse. i even find the name of their umbrella org, Fediverse Hosting Foundation a little concerning. it seems to de-emphasize their role in hosting a section of the fediverse and implies a higher degree of central importance than i'd ever want

but then. i'm just a rural boy from a dead mining town in what the early anarchist philosophers in Russia called a "resource colony," "internal colony," or "sacrifice zone."

There is a difference between asking nicely / rudely and speaking collectively with the ability to present actual consequences, such as defederation of most non lemmy.world instances or full boykott of all lemmy.world communities.

such as defederation
