Surely this won't come back to bite him or his family...

I'm curious as to how this would bite him ?

He's not criticising China so they're not going to be upset, quite the contrary.

I don't think the US govt carea even a little bit.

Who is going to "bite" him ?

You don't have to criticize them to be under their thumb. China is consistently rated one of the least free countries in the world. People tend to think that America is a bad place to live, but that's the double-edged sword of media being US-centric. China is an oppressive regime. It's not even close. I won't say that everyone that lives in China has it bad, he might do just fine, but on the whole, it's not a great place to be, and even if you aren't on their bad side now, one slip up can land you on the shitlist for life.

Personal experience from your visits there ?

[–] chemical_cutthroat@lemmy.world -2 points 4 days ago (2 children)

Don't need to personally experience everything, just have people you trust.

So you don't know at all, what a citation.

Did you know that Germany personally stamps every baby with a marker tag? I don't need proof. I was just told it by a trusted friend.

Hey, if you trust them, that's on you. I verify my sources, and when I put my trust in someone I don't do it lightly. But if your source is talking about stamping kids, then I guess that's on you to verify.

Edit: Awww, you got banned. Well, I guess I'll see you around, though I doubt you'll have learned your lesson.

And how do you know these are people you can trust ? What is their experience ?

You are asserting the reported first hand account is false or misleading based on unspecified inspecific alternative reports that you're not sourcing.

There's a word/acronym for that behaviour, it is called FUD.

As someone who has lived in both the US & China (i am from neither) you're drinking too much Kool-Aid and not applying enough critical thinking
