I mean I get the idea of the forced restart and the general waiting time - assuming a scammer wants you to install a "side loaded" app, it will disconnect their call with you, of they're calling you on that phone. Same for a waiting period that forces the scammer to either hang around on the phone with you for a long time or to call again some time in the future.

But 24h?

My elderly parents are getting a continuous amount of scam calls now practically every day for I don't know how long. All because they one time actually took a call and talked a while with the scammer. I am not at their home a lot, but last time blocked numbers on their handset landline phone. It seems the scammer noticed and switched numbers as they do.

Point is, this has been going on for weeks or months. 24h are nothing in waiting time for a scammer. It just forces them to do yet another call a bit later.

Scammers spoof the caller ID. Blocking numbers doesn’t do shit because those aren’t their real numbers.
