Does anyone actually use eBay anymore? I just avoid it now unless I have no other choice. I don’t know of anyone who hasn’t had multiple terrible experiences and then said that eBay just didn’t give a shit.
Ebay is king if you are into collectibles. I used to buy and sell baseball cards all the time and eBay is a good aribter, although they tend to favor the buyer over the seller. I bought a used trombone on eBay a month ago and that was good, plus a cat tree last year.
For me its the best place to buy and sell used computer hardware(I don't use facebook marketplace). Sold several GPU's and VR headsets there, and bought lots of old used server and computer parts that are more expensive and often unavailable at a more traditional retailer.
EBay way better than amozon
They have weird things that I can't get locally or from McMaster carr and I avoid Amazon when I can.
I cancelled amazon after bezos bent the knee and now use Ebay to buy miscellaneous nic-naks that are hard to find in brick and mortar stores.
I buy retro tech items on ebay here in the eu. The two times I filed for refunds ebay got my money back within a week. All other sales have been very smooth. Still plenty of good sellers to shop from.
Yes I prefer it to Amazon which makes things more expensive for consumers the more you use it.
I use it if I want to buy used items, but compare it to Amazon or other stores. If the "new" price isn't that far off then I just buy new. Mostly for server/computer hardware.
I do sell on eBay a bit, is a solid experience on that front as well.
Ebay is HUGE for Pokemon/TCG as well.
I buy used stuff from it. It's a great place to find old PCs for a home lab. I even got a new part for my 3d printer that wasn't on Amazon and I'd otherwise have needed to wait weeks if I ordered it from Alibaba.
Anytime I can’t find an item somewhere else, eBay has it. I’ve used to maybe only 5 times in the last few years about always got what I paid for and haven’t had a bad experience.
I use it all the time and rarely have an issue and eBay is always prompt when I do have an issue.
I use eBay. I've been using it for years. I perhaps put more effort into it than other people, as I check out every seller before purchasing. And I never buy from outside the US.
I've only had a couple bad experiences - like the time I ordered an encyclopedia and received a single volume or the time I got a flash drive that didn't work (pretty good failure rate, considering I've been using eBay since 2013ish) - both times I got to keep the (mostly useless) item and I got a refund.
Ebay banned me instantly when i sold a gpu a few years ago but when i opened an account just to buy shit I haven't really had a problem with ih. They never even explained to me what the ban was for either, something about a TOS violation but they wouldn't say what the violation even was
Happened to me too when I tried to sell my used macbook
I plan to use it to buy a used gpu and some other things.
I don't really use it for buying since I have the impression that it's all just cheap tat, which is maybe not entirely fair, or maybe it is. And I don't use it for selling because their policy of almost always siding with the buyer by default in any dispute makes it too easy to be taken advantage of - unless they've changed that recently in the last few years while I wasn't looking. And regardless, selling anything is quite expensive.
So I don't really find it to be useful. I'll use gumtree or freecycle etc before ebay.
