MAGAs Are Fuming After Email Confirms They Will Never Get Their $500 Trump Phones or Deposits Back
(www.ibtimes.co.uk)
This is a most excellent place for technology news and articles.
How many times do they need to be grifted for them to learn?
Based on the comments on that article, n+1
I always wonder what they think the GOP has given them. Like the dems blow but at least they got stuff like gay marriage and the ACA through. Is there literally one thing the GOP has done since the last shitty actor we elected that wasn't just funneling money to the rich?
You know the answer to that, and you also know that the answer does not matter. MAGA isn't a political movement that gains or loses people's support depending on the outcomes of its actions. It's a cult, built around absolute faith in the leader and its ideology, and as such, it's insulated from reality. Cults have a long history of explaining away the suffering they cause to their own members:
Just think about the suffering any past cult has managed to have people endure or inflict on others (often their own kids). Then you know no matter how much MAGAs will suffer from their own political choices, it's not going to change their minds en masse.
I don't think it's limited to MAGA. I don't think any GOP voter in the last 50 years has ever gotten anything from their party, and they still probably never changed their minds.
I don't think those two are comparable.
Did pre-MAGA GOP voters vote against their own economic self interest? Yes, very likely.
Did they vote for the GOP in good faith, believing this was the right choice for the country and everyone living in it? Also: Yes, very likely.
That latter aspect is important in my view. In Trump's first term, people could still argue that they didn't know what he'd do and what would happen once he got into office. But that defense is gone now. People knew exactly what would happen this time. They knew about the cruelty. They knew about the violence. They knew about the corruption, the lawlessness, the authoritarianism. And they voted for him anyway, or even because of these things. They were prepared to accept all that, as long as it would be inflicted upon "the other side" (and now the leopards are eating their faces, too). That is no longer the ill-informed, but good-faith conservatism of former GOP voters. That is the cultish fanaticism of MAGA.
At least once more. As always.
