I heard about Lemmy from Mental Outlaw and it caught my interest. The Reddit API situation made me finally decide to drop Reddit and make an account on lemmy.world. I haven’t turned back since.

What about you, what brought you to the Fediverse?

I was looking for an alternative long before the reddit API thing. I had encountered lemmy and logged in a few times but it was a shit show. Just a couple of prolific posters from .ml spamming propaganda.

Not really knowing any of the background and the proclivities of the devs, it was bizarre. I felt like this progressive new decentralised network had been infested by pariahs.

Every 6 months or so I'd log in just to make sure I hadn't misunderstood something. Weird.

Anyhow, then the reddit API thing happened and suddenly there was enough normal people around to just block .ml
