While we're here ... how do you go about removing the batteries from these things? (For academic purposes only, of course.)
Now that's just wasteful.
You must not waste the batteries in scooters, the gold in flock cameras or the ram in data centers. I believe Jesus said this. Now pray with me

Again, only for academic purposes, I'd like to remove them in good condition so the battery cells inside could function in home-made ebike batteries. 2 or 3 scooters worth of batteries should be able to make a very nice ebike battery pack.
would be fun to build home electric storage off these....
I'm not certain, but some galium would work pretty well if the bikes and scooters are made of aluminum. Assuming the batteries aren't of course.
this is a nonstarter for multiple reasons:
gallium will only react with exposed, raw aluminum, these scooters and bikes have paint or plastic coatings, or an oxide layer on any exposed aluminum.
gallium isn't exactly cheap - ten grams on amazon is $40+ usd.....
gallium attacks on aluminum aren't exactly fast either - and you need to concentrate the puddle in one spot to keep it working, with some light agitation to remove the slag that will develop. also, it's a liquid, so keeping it in one place is hard
while aluminum is a good choice for these devices, I also wonder how many are steel because the lime scooters in my area are heavy as fuuuuuck lol. and I'd worry about aluminum frames bending with the fat bastards I see riding 'em.
And wear dark tinted goggles and cover your lower face. Wear gloves.
