The pre-orders were open before that though. It was several years until they went into production.
Though one could argue the unveiling of the Cybertruck was the first sign he was going crazy.
Looking it up to be sure: The Tham Luang cave rescue happened in mid-2018, but the CyberTruck concept was unveiled in late 2019. So Leon had already outed himself as a full-tilt narcissistic lunatic more than a year before it was even announced.
To be fair, which I dont think we need to be, just having a narcissistic lunatic at the helm doesnt really make Tesla worse than any other auto manufacturer from an ethics point of view. If you are forced to buy a car, I dont think there is a morally spotless company to purchase from. No ethical consumption under capitalism and whatnot.
I would argue that elons assaults on democracy and other craziness over the past few years has pushed Tesla into a category of "worse than all other manufacturers", but maybe not in 2019?
To remove ambiguity, the sticker should probably say, "I bought this before Elon went Nazi"?
"I bought this before, I, personally, was aware of the extent of his derangement, and I figured that an electric vehicle from a relatively new company was the least of a whole bunch of evils. Plus, there were some nice subsidies at the time."
that is a good point in time of clearly has lost it. I mean the hyperloop was pretty redic but drilling and boring are very useful things so I think at that point I might have still been giving the benefit of the doubt but yeah the wierd calling the guy a pedo which on hindsite makes me think elan was pretty tight with epstein or something.
Elon fired his publicist in 2018. He’d been a known asshat to anyone online for a while by the time the cyber truck was unveiled.
Never mind the fact that the company as a whole was extremely anti consumer the entire time.
Wow that must have been an amazing publicist!
I think the cave rescue was the first very public sign. Was the truck a thing then?
