You'll be hard-pressed to catch me complaining about anything. I don't like hearing others do it, so I don't take part either.
And I don't mean expressing distaste for something when it's relevant to the discussion. I mean the kind of unprompted whining we're all exposed to here on a daily basis. I'm too aware of the social game being played there, and even the thought of joining in makes me cringe. Pointing out everything wrong with the world without offering anything even remotely like a sustainable, realistic alternative is incredibly unproductive - it's mostly just tribal signaling.
i know you didn't mean this in a literal way but you challenged me to find anything you complain about and it was literally your 2nd latest post on pemmy where you complained about worker's miscalibrated tools. this is just peak irony to me
I don't personally find that post complainy in the way I was talking about. It's frustrating and kind of funny. I don't sense any negative vibe there at all.
The kind of complaining I'm talking about is the exhausting kind to be around. Even there I express my frustration but also say I have a solution for the problem.
Ofcourse I too complain sometimes. I just try not to but I'm not perfect.
I disagree, it's absolutely vital that it be possible to complain about stuff, otherwise we'd fall into some kind of ultra obedient civilization where silence is the norm.
Just because you don't have a solution doesn't mean you can't highlight an issue. That's just silly. That's every single bug report lol.
We wouldn't be this far advanced if we hadn't come together to share grievances and stuff that grinds our gears, all the time. "How can we make things better?" "What's on your mind today?"
It's the people who took action that brought us here - not the ones who just complained.
"How can we make things better?" Is not complaining. "Everything sucks and it's everyone else's fault but mine" is.
If you take your grievances to someone who knows a solution, you'll have a solution. 🤷♂️ Not everyone who discovered a problem has to also come up with the solution on their own. That's what I'm saying, in order to "do something about it" we can't be alone. We need to find the common enemy in the thing that is wrong in order for us to gang up on it in the first place and to win. Going in solo will just get you killed or worse. Everyone doesn't have to a Luigi/martyr.
